An interesting conversation about match-fixing with Francesco Baranca Which region is most vulnerable to fixed matches? Which sports are the most common and easiest to fix? How can match-fixing be detected? My favorite part: "We had a lot of cases in the summer in Finland, that has a very low corruption index, but after analyzing the squad of the teams involved we can see that mostly of the players were coming from Ukraine or Brazil. So actually no one place can be considered at zero risk on match fixing, it can happen everywhere because all matches are offered. Couple of days ago we had on the same day episodes in Russia, Ukraine, Israel and Palestine, four countries involved in war and where match fixing doesn’t stop during the war."

Our Q2 integrity report is now available. We reported 90 incidents of suspicious betting in 8 sports, across 25 countries around the world. Three key findings below: 1. Three sports (eSports, football, table tennis) accounted for 84% of all alerts in Q2; 2. eSports provided over 50% of the Q2 total (48 alerts); however, the majority of those alerts concern a single linked case; 3. The 19 alerts on sporting events in Europe in Q2 2024 is an increase of 15 on the 4 alerts in Q1, but a decrease on the 31 cases in Q2 2023. See below to learn more

This report comes as no surprise: 🎰 Malta's gambling industry accounts for 16% of Malta's entire business economy 💸 This can be seen from two different angles. On one hand it is great that after 20 years, the iGaming industry is still thriving in Malta. On the other hand, those who are cynical might say that the country is too over-reliant on one specific industry. Having been in this industry almost right from the start, I've seen the multiple benefits that iGaming brought to Malta: mainly job creation and value added to the economy 💹 These are great benefits, but with all the fluctuations in the global iGaming market, regulatory changes and other external factors, we can only hope that relying too heavily on this sector will not be detrimental for Malta in the long-run. Round 2 of the #Euro2024 Group Stage is over 🙌 Let's update you with some more statistics 📊 ⚽ The average number of goals has dropped from the first round, and it now stands at 2.5 goals per game. At this rate, we should see around 130 goals by the end of the tournament. However, last round matches in the group stage might see an increase in the number of goals as teams might be chasing that must-needed win 💯 The most common result so far has been that of 1-1 (5 times), followed by 1-0 and 2-1 (4 each). That is more or less in line with previous Euros, where 1-0 was the result that came out most times, followed by 2-1. 🏅 Where are the top-scorers? Only three players have scored 2 goals: Mikautadze (Georgia), Musiala (Germany) and Schranz (Slovakia). The other 61 goals were scored by different players, including 6 own goals! 😭 The worst defence has been that of Scotland (6 goals), followed by Croatia and Hungary (5 goals each). Only two teams have not conceded any goals yet: France and Spain 🟨 A total of 89 yellow cards have been handed by referees (average of 3.7 per match) and just one red card so far. Tournaments, as a part of User Journey in Сasino Operators, and how they are tipycally arranged.  All of them have some advantages and can be used by Operators for activities, Players engagement and overall Financial results Growth. Casino Operators can hosts 3 types of tournaments: 1) Networks - tournaments organised and financed by the game provider. Any Casino Operator that the Game Provider cooperates can take part in such a tournament. The main Feature of this type of tournament is that the conditions are not adapted to a specific market, and thats not a good story. For example, the minimum bet in a tournament may be too high for a market where people have a low income. Or some missions within a tournament is based on Turnover, that also not in a favour of low income regions. But this tournaments are easy to participate for Operators. On the early stages of Casino Operators growth or for some small regions - good thing to have! 2) Local tournaments - tournaments that Operator initiate on Operators' side, but conduct on the Game Provider's tournament tool. This type of organisation is optimal. Unfortunately, not all Game Providers have a advanced tournament tool with interesting mechanics, or the ability to customize the tournaments for a specific market. Still, this tournament type might give Casino Operators pretty good, customised approach for bringing fun to the players and engage them to play more and have cool time within the games. Getting some nice prizes and of course - promote GAMES from some specific Game providers.  This tournament type is financed in a shares between Casino Operators & Casino Game Providers. 3) Manual local tournaments. The third type of tournaments that Casino Operators often conduct. Responsibility for organising such a tournament is entirely with the Casino Operators. The teams prepare the design, Terms&Conditions, landings, etc.  These type of Tournaments if 100% for the Casino Operators cost, but allow to have as much mechanics and missions and prize pool verity as it can be. Hellenic Gaming Association is suing a gambling giant company over illegal gambling The Hellenic Gaming Association (HGA), under the leadership of President Christos Panagopoulos, has initiated a lawsuit against an international company operating illegal online gambling activities in Greece. This action is part of a broader effort to combat the significant rise in illegal gambling within the country, which has severe economic and social impacts. The HGA aims to highlight the scale of the issue and urge authorities to take stricter measures against unlicensed operators in the Greek market. The targeted company has repeatedly appeared on the blacklist of the Hellenic Gaming Commission (HGC) but continues to evade regulations by creating new websites with similar URLs. These sites are promoted to registered users via email under the guise of technical issues with previous sites. Despite being blacklisted multiple times, the company has managed to continue its illegal operations without paying for proper licensing or taxes. This legal move is not isolated; the HGA plans further actions against other unlicensed providers. Illegal operators typically offer better betting odds and higher casino game payouts because they do not bear the costs of taxes or licensing fees, unlike their licensed counterparts who pay significant taxes on gross gaming revenue (GGR) and fees for permanent licenses. Recent research by the Hellenic Gaming Commission, in collaboration with KAPPA Research, revealed that approximately 900,000 Greeks engaged in illegal gambling in the past year, with total bets amounting to 1.7 billion euros. Of this, 1.1 billion euros were spent on online gambling, while the remaining 600 million euros were wagered in physical locations like unlicensed clubs and casinos. The average annual expenditure per player on illegal online gambling was about 1,200 euros, compared to 738 euros for physical gambling venues. Additionally, the HGA is actively involved in initiatives to raise awareness and discuss solutions to the problem of illegal gambling.
