Legendary textiles company Brunschwig and Fils was founded in the late 19th century by French designer Achille Brunschwig. The French Brunschwig and Fils fabric company entered American markets during World War II. It was then that Achille joined the French military, leaving his textile brand to son Captain Roger E. Brunschwig and wife Zelina Comegys Brunschwig. During this time, Zelina and Roger Brunschwig worked with American mills in New York City. Because of the War, they did so instead of working with French mills in their original locations of Aubusson and Bohain. Zelina and Roger expanded the Brunschwig and Fils fabric brand to include wallpaper and other decorative trimmings after World War II.
After the Second World War, Zelina Brunschwig formed a partnership with the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. Working with the curatorial department, Brunschwig created the first exhibition of textiles in MoMA’s history. Five years later, the French government awarded Zelina Comegys Brunschwig the Legion of Honor for her exceptional work during the War. Today, many Brunschwig and Fils fabric designs are inspired by museum collections from the US and France. The Brunschwig and Fils fabric and wallcoverings brand is now owned by Kravet, Inc. Other iconic brands like Donghia, Lee Jofa and GP & J Baker fall under the Kravet, Inc. umbrella.
The French textile brand first introduced their Brunschwig and Fils Les Touches fabric in 1965. However, the playful spots remain one of the brand’s most iconic and sought-after motifs. Some believe the graphic print was inspired by antique French photographs while others believe it was ripped from another 19th century fabric. Either way, Brunschwig and Fils Les Touches fabric is both an abstract zebra or snakeskin print and an unusual spin on polka dots.
Brunschwig and Fils Fabric recently released a series of performance fabrics as part of their Brunschwig fabric Granville Weaves collection. Made in the United States, each of these Brunschwig fabric designs is completed with a B&F Armor finish. This allows for ultimate performance in both indoor and outdoor environments. Most Brunschwig fabric designs from the Granville Weaves collection are a blend of cotton, rayon and flax.
For example, Chausey Woven Brunschwig fabric is composed of 52% cotton, 43% rayon and 5% flax. On the other hand, La Rochelle Woven Brunschwig fabric is composed of 78 cotton and 22 rayon. Find the five Brunschwig fabric patterns from the Granville Weaves collection online through L.A. Design Concepts. Granville Weaves collection fabrics can each be found in one of four colorways: Navy, Beige, Petal and Leaf. Some Brunschwig and Fils fabric designs from the Granville Weaves collection like Chausey Woven are available in additional colorways like Canary and Aqua.

Toile fabric was popularized in France by Christophe-Philippe Oberkamp a century before Achille Brunschwig founded his Brunschwig and Fils fabric company. As we noted in our recent post “Five Classic Patterns Reimagined,” Oberkamp was inspired by the quaint yet spirited sensibility of Rococo art. One of the most popular toile fabrics still in circulation today is the Brunschwig and Fils Bird and Thistle fabric.
The Brunschwig and Fils Bird and Thistle fabric was originally available only in a red colorway. It was this original design that was implemented by American horticulturist and decorative arts collector Henry Francis du Pont in his Delaware estate. Today, Brunschwig and Fils Bird and Thistle fabric is available through L.A. Design Concepts in six different colorways. These colors include Grey, Beige, Aqua, Green, Blue and the original Red. Shop Brunschwig and Fils Bird and Thistle fabric here.
Founded in 1891 in France, Brunschwig and Fils is famous for intricate, bespoke textiles. The company now brings elegance and style into residences and spaces around the world. Brunschwig and Fils fabric is known for its expressive colors and sophisticated designs, including florals, animal prints, stripes and so much more.
In 2011, Kravet acquired Brunschwig fabric. Afterward, Kravet expanded the line to include a new and striking collection of Brunschwig and Fils wallpaper, trim, lighting and more. Kravet, established in 1918, is a textile and furnishings mainstay that helped expand, modernize and popularize Brunschwig et Fils fabric.
Now, it’s easier than ever to bring stunning Brunschwig & Fils fabric designs to any interior project. These gorgeous textiles are designed to last, with exclusive prints and saturated colors that can bring French style into homes around the world. Today, Brunschwig and Fils can be found in historic landmarks such as the White House and Palace of Versailles.
Brunschwig and Fils’ Les Touches is arguably their most sought-after fabric. It’s a part of the Le Jardin Chinois collection. Available in 14 fabulous colorways, this 100% cotton textile is perfect for any project. Les Touches fabric is a favorite in the design world for its versatility. Add to sofas, accent chairs, headboards, throw pillows – even adorable dog beds!.
Another very popular option is the Brunschwig and Fils Talavera fabric. Made of 100% linen, this leafy print is a part of the Maisonette collection. It’s available in three timeless earth tones, each with a background that helps the intricate nature of the leaves “pop.” We particularly love this print as drapery fabric

L.A. Design Concepts has been bringing designer furnishings into homes since 1987.
L.A. Design Concepts can provide you with our "Letter of Introduction" to shop your local design center. Our letter will provide you with a higher level of customer service when the showrooms recognize you are represented by an industry known firm.
While visiting the designer showrooms you will have the advantage of seeing all of the furniture and textile lines up close and in person. You may also request "tear sheets" on items selected that displays a photo and all of the product specifications.
Our story begins in 1987 when founder and designer Frank Keshishian launched L.A. Design Concepts a residential interior design firm.
While Mr. Keshishian designed homes for his clients, he recognized a fast growing market of consumers who preferred to make their own design decisions. Understanding that desire, Frank created the first design service offering consumer access to designer "trade only" furnishings.
In 1988, L.A. Design Concepts was nationally recognized as a groundbreaking company revolutionizing consumer access. The Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles was very intrigued with L. A. Design Concepts working model and approached Frank in 1990 to formulate a consumer service program within their design center. L.A. Design Concepts was now the first service within a design center providing consumer access to “trade only? furnishings. Shortly thereafter, an increasing number of interior designers and architects recognized the value of streamlining their access through one single source. Our service allowed designers to focus on designing for their clients without having to maintain accounts with each individual manufacturer.
