Kenny Slaught is a major contributor to the Music Academy of the West, Santa Barbara Scholarship Foundation, and local high schools throughout the region

kenny_slaughtKenny Slaught is the founder and president of Investec Real Estate Companies. Since the firm’s formation in 1983, he has worked to grow Investec into the largest real estate development and management business in Santa Barbara County, acquiring more than three million square feet of coastal California apartment, office, retail, and self-storage space. With forty employees, the company oversees over $1 billion in assets, is accredited by the Institute of Real Estate Management, and remains a longtime member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.

As President of Investec, Slaught plays an instrumental role in establishing the firm’s investment strategies and policies, determining its asset class allocations and overseeing key business decisions. Under his visionary leadership, the firm has procured lucrative business opportunities in times of highly varying financial markets, securing Investec’s impeccable reputation in the property investment community.

A 1979 graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara, Slaught holds a degree in business and economics. He has also obtained a certification from the California Contractors State License Board, and a California real estate broker’s license earned in 1979. Prior to forming Investec, Slaught was a founding partner of the MKS Companies, a real estate development, property management, and mortgage brokerage firm.

In addition to his entrepreneurial ventures, Slaught has held leadership positions in many of Southern California’s nonprofit organizations. He is an active board member of the UCSB Foundation; formerly served on the board of the Santa Barbara Hospice Foundation; and is a longtime supporter to the Music Academy of the West, Santa Barbara Scholarship Foundation, and numerous local high schools.
