HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO GO SOLAR?

At Blue Raven Solar, we want to help homeowners save on their utilities each month. Going solar is not a one-size-fits-all process, which is great for you and your home. The cost of solar is based on a variety of factors, so it is difficult to calculate exactly how much your custom solar panel system will cost without receiving specific information.

We understand incentives, rebates, and utility costs in your area and will create a custom plan to maximize your savings when switching to solar energy.

“Blue Raven has been amazing to work with for the entire process.Their customer service is hands down five stars. I had all sorts of issues and they were very helpful in fixing things. For instance I had an opt-out on my meter for solar radiation and they bought a radiation guard. I had issues with the thermostat and they covered the bill to have it fixed.

Also, I had two solar companies approach me during this time and none of them offered to pay the first 18 months of our energy costs. They partnered with LoanPal, which led to me refinancing my home at a better interest rate and in 15 years. I had been in a 33 year loan through the USDA. The entire experience has been amazing! The panels look great. My energy bills are so low. I am producing so much energy! My loan payment took the place of my electric bill.”

“Blue Raven did a good job of estimating how much solar we needed/could produce. 6 months in, we’re producing more energy than using in the house. Their customer service has been great. There were a couple of issues with install–the roof inspection said our roof was fine, but when the crew showed up they saw some missing shingles that caused us to hold off and replace the roof (side note, insurance covered). That pushed back the install, but the install itself went smoothly… They also had an incentive program that covered the first 18 months of payments and they’ve been covering that with 100% efficiency.”

FACTORS TO CONSIDER WHEN GOING SOLAR

Every home, property, roof line, and budget is different when it comes to installing solar, so the costs associated are going to vary as well. Here are some of the most common factors to take into consideration:

LOCATION

Geographic location, proximity to the equator, climate, and house orientation – all impact how much energy your solar panels will produce. This ultimately determines the amount of offset. Generally, the closer you are to the equator and if the panels are installed on the south roofline of your home they will be more productive.

CURRENT UTILITY CONSUMPTION

Utility bills continually rise, on average year-over-year. If you are looking to minimize the change in price and would like to have a significantly lower utility payment per month, solar can do that for you! If your current utility bill is high, then going solar might help you set more manageable and consistent payments.

SIZE OF HOUSE & SYSTEM INSTALLED

The size of your house, specifically the square foot of roof space, will determine how many panels can be installed. How much you are willing to pay for a custom solar system will also change the number of panels installed, which will ultimately change the amount of utility bill offset.

SOLAR PANEL TYPES & BUYING OPTIONS

There are different types of solar panels and purchasing options which range in price as well as aesthetics and efficiency. We specialize in installing monocrystalline panels, which are most often the best option for residential solar, and all of our homeowners own their panels outright.

TRADE POLICY

Evaluate the changes and stay up to date about the government trade policy, as it can impact prices – whether it be foreign-manufactured panels or tariff rates.

Solar versus Traditional Energy Costs Graph

COMPARE COSTS: SOLAR VS. TRADITIONAL ENERGY

When you own your solar energy system—which is what we recommend—as opposed to leasing one, then you’re paying for the hardware and the cost of labor to install it, nothing else. Owning a rooftop solar array doesn’t require a lot of cash up front.

Utility bills can fluctuate from one month to the next, but energy prices everywhere trend upward from one year to the next.

With a solar loan, you end up with a monthly bill that stays low and fixed for the life of the loan. At Blue Raven Solar, we make sure your monthly bill for the installation is lower than your average power bill. Plus, once the loan is paid off, you get the benefit of producing clean energy for free from that day forward.

SAY GOODBYE TO HIGH UTILITY COSTS

By going solar, you can save money on your monthly utility bill and pocket extra savings through local and federal solar incentives. Solar power also protects you from rising energy costs and can increase the general value of your home.

The amount of photovoltaic (PV) energy produced by your system will influence how much your utility bill is reduced. Month over month, there are no guarantees, as the amount will vary. We do our best to design a system that will offset 100% of your average utility bill.

Will I really save money on my power bill with solar?

Yes! Our priority is to save you money on your electric bill, starting on day one. Your system will generate its own clean power from the sun and you will begin to save money. Over 20 years, this results in a considerable amount of savings.

HOW MUCH DO SOLAR PANELS SAVE?

Because electricity costs vary from state to state in accordance with local utility providers, the savings will fluctuate.

As a homeowner, solar panel systems can seem like a large up-front cost, but it continues to save you money year over year by cutting electricity costs. Although this is not the only way to save, it is probably the largest and easiest way to evaluate what exactly you are saving.

On average, a residential solar system can produce 350-850 kilowatt hours (kWh) per month. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administrations, the average home uses around 909 Kwh of energy per month, so installing solar panels can save you significantly on your monthly electricity bills.

Once your system is installed, conveniently monitor your products’ savings every month on mobile, tablet, or desktop devices.

COST OF MAINTAINING A CUSTOM SOLAR SYSTEM

Most solar panel system maintenance and the costs associated are covered by manufacturer warranties.

Routine maintenance costs differ from homeowner to homeowner and depend on the severity of the damage. The national average cost, annually, is between $300-$700.

As a best practice, we recommend scheduling annual maintenance inspections to mitigate the cost associated and to ensure all panels and systems are operating at full capacity.
