Are you a surfer? Do you want to try it out? Believe it or not, the United States is a country full of amazing spots to catch some truly awesome waves. Why not plan your summer vacation to one of the top five surfing spots in America?
1. Halewia, Hawaii
Halewia, Hawaii is the penultimate spot to hit the surf. Its beaches are white sand and its waves are white-capped. Located on Hawaii’s North Shore, Halewia feels like true Hawaiian vibes, with just the right amount of waves, sun, and local culture.
2. Ocean City, New Jersey
The east coast is not typically known for its great surfing waves, but Ocean City definitely breaks this mold. Plan to visit this surfing town during the summer, when the snow has taken a break and the temperatures make the water temperature bearable.
3. Encinitas, California
California is known for its surf-able waves and beautiful beaches. Come and visit Encinitas for a laid-back, chill sort of vibe, and for some killer year-round waves. Just be sure to bring your wetsuit!
4. Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina
Not only does it have a cool name, but Kill Devil Hills also has some great waves. The larger area, known as the Outer Banks, is a destination spot for families and serious surfers alike.
5. New Smyrna Beach, Florida
The state of Florida may be known for being super flat, but it’s waves are anything but. Close to Daytona (but without all the partiers). New Smyrna Beach is the ultimate destination for east coast families who want to try their hand at surfing.
