Whole Foods Could Sell Pot Someday

Milk? Check. Eggs? Check. Bread? Check. Pot brownie mix? Marijuana and edibles could be coming to a natural foods grocery store near you. Main Street reports that when asked on a panel if Whole Foods would ever sell cannabis, Whole Foods CEO John Mackey "reportedly said only if the plant were legal to use and the local community approved."

"It's possible that Whole Foods could be the Whole Foods of cannabis."

Troy Dayton, CEO of the ArcView Group — a SF-based investment firm that invests in marijuana-related ventures — was even more optimistic. He told Main Street: "It's possible that Whole Foods could be the Whole Foods of cannabis."

Colorado, Washington, and Arizona already allow the legal sale of marijuana and related edible products. Though legalization has caused headaches for parents and regulators, the sheer volume of revenue generated from legalization means states like Oregon, Alaska, and California are moving to legalize weed as well. Personally, we'd put weed in the spice and baking aisle, and stock already-baked edibles near the bakery.
