Delivering the commencement speech at Delaware State University was deeply meaningful. While I didn't attend an HBCU like Del. State, I realized that I gravitated to an African American fraternity seeking the sense of belonging, pride and excellence that HBCUs offer. Del. State has consistently been ranked in the top 10 of HBCUs, a testament to the great work of my Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated brother President Dr. Tony Allen and his team. I told the graduates I was once in their shoes, the first in my family to graduate from college and excited but uncertain about the road ahead. I reminded them that from starting their undergraduate journey during a pandemic to persevering through unprecedented challenges, they already embody resilience and the ability to achieve despite the odds. These students are why Exelon, the Exelon Foundation and our local energy companies have contributed over $15 million to HBCUs over the past few years. I look forward to seeing what these bright students accomplish, and hope they continue to serve their communities and inspire the world. Congratulations again to Delaware State University’s class of 2024!

Today, Exelon reported our financial results for the first quarter of 2024. We are focused on adding another year of premier operational and financial performance to our track record and working with our local jurisdictions to make investments in infrastructure needed for the energy transformation.    More on the Q1 2024 results from Exelon CFO Jeanne Jones

In this morning’s Q1 earnings call, Exelon CEO Calvin Butler and I outlined that we are off to another strong start operationally and delivered $0.68 of adjusted operating earnings. Despite mild temperatures and a challenging storm season, we remain on track to deliver our full-year earnings guidance and continue to affirm our sustained growth over the coming years. Here are some of the key takeaways: • Q1 earnings were in line but modestly lower than those reported last year, as incremental earnings related to customer investments were offset primarily by weather-related impacts and financing costs. • We are encouraged that we’re making progress on the regulatory front, including an updated revenue requirement at ComEd that was approved almost two months ahead of schedule. • Our streak of operational excellence continues, with our local utilities performing in top 25% of the industry or better, despite significant storm activity throughout the quarter.
