What does it take to run a financially viable, quality childcare business in Kenya’s low-income communities? In Nairobi's informal settlements, thousands of parents rely on small daycare centers to care for their children while they work. But for many providers, making these businesses sustainable is a constant struggle marked by low, irregular income, high costs, and limited training. To better understand this sector, BFA Global partnered with the Nawirika Foundation under the Opportunity Leads Umbrella Fund to explore the business realities of low-cost childcare in Kenya.
