As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, D&A recognizes the incredible contributions of our Hispanic and Latino/a/e friends, neighbors, and colleagues. From advocacy to equity-driven initiatives, we’re committed to lifting up all voices and ensuring that everyone’s story is heard.
You might wonder, what’s the difference between Hispanic and Latino/a/e? 🤔 Hispanic refers to individuals with roots in Spanish-speaking countries, emphasizing language. On the other hand, Latino/a/e refers to people from Latin American countries, focusing on geography, regardless of whether they speak Spanish, Portuguese, or Indigenous languages. Both terms celebrate vibrant, diverse cultures that enrich our communities in unique ways.
This month, we honor the history, culture, and influence of these communities, who continue to inspire our work toward a more inclusive, just society.
