6 Erste countries until Christmas. Today we are in Bukarest to align Group and local People & Culture approaches by broadly discussing it with the HR Teams in all countries. This makes more sense than ever. Employment markets are global markets, #engagement, #learning and #skilling approaches will be joined ones and we are all sharing the same challenges -from huge employee and candidate expectations, a tough talent market, skills gaps in the future that we need to bridge, increasing costs and the need for better workforce planning. What an honor to be able to take part in the Indonesia HR Summit 2023 last month! It was truly a humbling and proud experience to be amongst well-respected HR professionals, including many who have mentored me throughout my career journey as well. I was asked to talk about strategies in developing the best talents and aligning them with the company's vision. I have to say, it was easy for me to share that journey because I firmly believe that Unilever Indonesia has always been embedding purpose in the work that we do for many years, including in the brands that we grew up with. I remember as a child learning to brush my teeth twice a day; I would always call 'toothpaste' as 'Pepsodent'. Similar when I was a bit older and getting to know how to do laundry, it has always been 'Rinso', never 'detergent'. So, sharing the purpose-led leadership development strategy felt natural for me, because these brands and their purpose have already been part of my life from a young age. It was a very inspiring discussion, especially when sharing the stage alongside reputable speakers from other industries. There are several aspects that we brought up when it comes to attracting and retaining talents, but one key factor that we shared was culture. At Unilever Indonesia, we build our culture around purpose. Are we living our purpose in the work that we do? We encourage people to define their own leadership purpose, what is it that drives them, what sort of impact or legacy would they like to create, and how can we explore that purpose in the work that they do. That way, our people feel safe and motivated to bring the best version of themselves, every day, in and out of work. Our HR vision is to care for our people and grow with them.
