Albertsons Companies’ Post

We are thrilled to spotlight Lincoln School in Garwood, NJ, for their outstanding participation in the Explore.Act.Tell. (E.A.T.) Program. Their innovative project focusing on addressing hunger and food insecurity in their community has earned them a well-deserved grant funded by the #NourishingNeighbors program, a charitable initiative of Albertsons Companies Foundation. Through the E.A.T. Program, Lincoln School students engaged in project-based learning, developed a comprehensive plan, and successfully executed a food drive collecting canned fruits and vegetables. They also created "seed" bags containing seeds and pots to encourage recipients to grow their own fresh produce. The success of this initiative demonstrates how young minds, when empowered, can bring about significant positive changes in their communities. Super good stuff here. In other news: visit at my local store this past weekend got me worried about the co’s long term viability. I don’t go often but it was on my way home, so I stopped by. I only left with one item - a round $10- because the laundry products I also wanted were all held hostage behind a plexi prison that would require the summoning of a guard to set them free. I didn’t have time to wait, so I immediately left. Studies (see The Guardian for their reporting of it) have demonstrated that this approach to loss prevention, vs hiring staff, has long term negative financial outcomes because shoppers want to be able to shop quickly, or linger over various products they can easily caress while shopping. I’m saying something to you because I want Albertsons Companies to continue to exist 10-15 years from now. This path that you’re on started a clock that is counting down and says you’ll be gone within 5 years…tick tick tick ⏰
