We are pleased to share a technical update from HyProMag. Through continued research & development with University of Birmingham, as well as the improvement of several processing steps, HyProMag Ltd is now able to manufacture recycled magnets exceeding N45 in remanence & SH in coercivity. The technical update shows the hysteresis loops for short loop recycled magnets produced by HyProMag. These milestones represent customer standards for both high coercivity and high remanence applications. HyProMag Ltd's short-loop recycling route for #NdFeB magnets is underpinned by Hydrogen Processing of Magnet Scrap (HPMS) technology, which was developed at University of Birmingham and provides the solution for liberating magnets from end-of-life scrap streams in a cost effective and energy efficient way. The resulting recycled NdFeB powder can be fed back into multiple points of the #RareEarth supply chain including (short-loop) magnet manufacturing and (long-loop) chemical processing and separation. Ongoing scale-up and commercialisation of HPMS is supported by extensive piloting with over 3,000 finished magnets produced to date and being tested in a range of applications. HPMS technology and HyProMag is supported by the Minerals Security Partnership aligned with HyProMag’s growth strategy in UK, Germany, USA, Japan, Canada and other countries. Following the final approval of the EU Critical Raw Materials Act #CRMA, the EU has set a benchmark that 25% of the annual consumption of critical raw materials should come from #recycled materials. These and other initiatives to create more robust and sustainable supply chains are aligned with HyProMag’s growth strategy in Europe and beyond. Upcoming milestones include: - Initial commercial sales of NdFeB targeted for H2 2024 - Commercial production in Germany targeted for 2025 - Completion of the USA feasibility study by end of 2024, with production in 2026 To discuss magnet scrap solutions and purchasing, magnet and other product sales, please contact magnets@hypromag.com To discuss collaboration and consultation, please contact technical@hypromag.com #RareEarths #Maginito #CoTec Rob Arnold Abeshaa Mahendran Nick Mann Mkango Resources Ltd. Developing the recycling supply chain and short loop recycling of neodymium iron boron (NdFeB) rare earth magnets
About us
HyProMag are establishing short loop recycling facilities for NdFeB magnets at Tyseley Energy Park in Birmingham, UK and other locations using the patented HPMS (Hydrogen Processing of Magnet Scrap) process to provide a sustainable solution for the supply of NdFeB magnets and alloys for a wide range of markets including, for example, automotive and electronics. Short loop magnet recycling is expected to have a significant environmental benefit, requiring an estimated 88% less energy versus primary mining to separation to metal alloy to magnet production. The plant at Tyseley Energy Park is being developed together with the UoB, with a minimum capacity of 100tpa NdFeB (neodymium, iron, boron).

At EMR, we understand the importance of working in collaboration with other industry leaders, academia and government - to share knowledge, develop ideas and progress, together. Earlier this month, we were thrilled to host our partners from the Re-Rewind project at our Central Engineering Facility. Re-Rewind is a revolutionary partnership, working to establish the UK's first circular supply chain for the rare earth magnets used in wind turbines, so that the UK's move to renewable energy can continue. Our partners from HyProMag Ltd, Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, Magnomatics Limited, and University of Birmingham all joined us to learn about handling high-strength magnets. The team took part in a mix of classroom-based learning and hands-on activities, before conducting a live demonstration of a controlled disassembly. #CircularEconomy #WindTurbines #MetalRecycling

As the first generation of UK wind turbines approach the end of their serviceable lives, it's more important than ever that we're creating a sustainable, circular economy for the precious materials within them. Introducing 'Re-Rewind': a revolutionary partnership that's set to secure the future of sustainable wind energy by recycling critical rare-earth magnets, so that they don't have to be mined to manufacture future wind turbines. These materials are essential for functionality, and with the UK expected to see a 240,000 tonne shortfall in these magnets by 2040, if we don't establish this circular solution now, our progress towards net-zero will slow dramatically. This partnership - between EMR, a global leader in sustainable materials, HyProMag Ltd, Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, Magnomatics Limited, and the University of Birmingham, and part funded by Innovate UK - is leading the way towards the long-term viability of wind energy in the UK and contributing to a more sustainable future for generations to come. #RenewableEnergy #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #ReRewind #WindTurbines #Innovation

Why do magnets matter? Permanent magnets are necessary components of our modern lives, from smartphones, laptops and wind turbines to the motors of e-cars. However, rare earths used to make these magnets have a high supply risk and their current extraction and transformation methods damage the environment. Join us on the 7 and 8 September for a treasure hunt in electric waste, a motor building competition, magnetic demonstrations and an interactive exhibition to explore how we can address this critical challenge at the SUSMAGPRO Project roadshow. https://lnkd.in/eN7vx4_8
