Better policies for better lives

About us

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is an international organisation that works to build better policies for better lives. We draw on more than 60 years of experience and insights to shape policies that foster prosperity and opportunity, underpinned by equality and well-being. We work closely with policy makers, stakeholders and citizens to establish evidence-based international standards and to find solutions to social, economic and environmental challenges. From improving economic performance and strengthening policies to fight climate change to bolstering education and fighting international tax evasion, the OECD is a unique forum and knowledge hub for data, analysis and best practices in public policy. Our core aim is to set international standards and support their implementation – and help countries forge a path towards stronger, fairer and cleaner societies.

  • How can we unlock the trillions needed to power a net-zero future? Renewables are expected to meet nearly half of global electricity demand by 2030—that's over 5,500 GW of new capacity. To reach net-zero emissions by mid-century, annual global investment in clean energy must rise from USD 1.8 trillion to around USD 4.5 trillion each year by the early 2030s—a gap of USD 2.7 trillion per year. Clean energy projects are more sensitive to the cost of capital than fossil fuel equivalents. Developing countries and new technologies face particularly high investment barriers. On #EarthDay discover the findings from our Environment Working Paper paper on bridging the clean energy investment gap. Learn more: https://brnw.ch/21wS9la

Secretary-General of the OECD - Secrétaire général de l’OCDE

Pleased to join UN Under-Secretary-General and Special Envoy for Digital and Emerging Technologies, Amandeep Gill, at #UN Headquarters in New York for the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the #OECD and the United Nations on Artificial Intelligence. This agreement marks an important milestone in deepening our collaboration to advance principled, science-based, and evidence-driven approaches to #AI — helping countries unlock its economic and societal benefits while managing its risks responsibly. The MoU builds on key recent developments including the Global Digital Compact, the OECD’s updated AI Principles, and the work of the Global Partnership on AI (#GPAI). It sets the stage for closer cooperation through joint research and analysis, regular assessments of AI opportunities and risks, and a broad range of initiatives leveraging the respective strengths of both organisations. This partnership underscores our shared commitment to ensuring that AI is developed and deployed in ways that are human-centred, trustworthy, and aligned with our common values. #OECDAI

Governments have a unique opportunity to reshape markets and stimulate economic resilience. Join us on 1-2 of July in Paris for the Global Public Procurement Forum where policymakers, industry leaders, and experts will discuss how procurement can: ➡️ Drive innovation by incentivising cutting-edge solutions ➡️ Support SMEs through inclusive procurement policies ➡️ Enhance resilience by embedding sustainability in procurement practices Register now: https://brnw.ch/21wS4Zc | #OECDprocurement
