The Majority of HKG oils have been banned because they are made from very unstable oxidant & inflammatory fats.! They have been banned because the decompose into harmful food products very quickly! These harmful food products are responsible for the acceleration of NCDs like diverts, strokes, cardiovascular, cancer & chronic respiratory diseases. One in ten die or 32+M people worldwide and three in ten can suffer from a NCD. Hence a significant portion of the waste food needs to be composted or incorporated in a biological compost! There are 144+ governments around the world begging you to switch to monounsaturated oils as they have the very opposite antioxidant and anti-inflammatory chemistry! Every #caterer # every #listedcompany every #government kitchen #every #hospital, #School #QSR #kitchen feed the public including 🍆#HKJC, #FootballClub #cricket #tennis #Golf & #press enterprise must become responsible or pay for the #lives lost or #suffering! It does not cost a penny or a dollar to switch, save 30% & upto 70% if you are a QSR as well as more cost reductions on variable expenses (staff, power, cleaning, waste), fixed costs( insurance, storage, filtration, compliance, marketing), intangible (ESG, loyalty, shareholders, government relationships) and importantly- save lives! 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱: one fridge sharing surplus food in 2017 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴: 18 million meals in 2023 🤯 A community fridge is a space that brings people together to share food, meet up, learn new skills and prevent fresh food from going to waste. 🍓 Since launching that first fridge in Swadlincote, Derbyshire in 2017, we've hugely scaled up the Community Fridge Network. In 2023 the network:   • Included over 650 fridges • Gave out over £1m of funding • Was visited by over 600,000 people • Saved 7,650 tonnes of surplus food going to waste ...and so much more! But the network can’t be captured in numbers alone. What Can You Do Today to Make an Impact? 1. Prevent Waste: -Optimize your ordering and ensure proper portioning and labeling. -Track and analyze food waste to identify adjustments, share the data for impact and make immediate changes. 2. Donate: - Follow proper temperature controls for donated food during all stages up to pick up and drop off.  - Cool, cold hold and potentially freeze cooked items properly to maintain safety during transport. Divert: - Recycle and compost wherever possible. - Update SOPs to keep areas clean and pest-free as these areas could be pest attractions. 4. Reduce: - Fix leaks and drips to conserve water. Even the smallest faucet drip or pipe leak can waste water. - Be mindful of the extras such as condiments and cutlery in takeout orders. Follow regulatory requirements.

In the '90s the milkman delivered orange juice. 🍊 Historians declared 'the end of history'. How could things get any better? It turns out things could get much worse, but milkmen largely skipped that bit. What they did during those lost decades is known only to a select few. What we do know, however, is that the milkman is back with a bang, and they've got way more than milk & juice in their carts. “38% of all food in the U.S. goes unsold or uneaten, lost at various points from the field to the family table.” Food waste is a massive issue, impacting food security and leading to less sustainable food systems. Globally we are producing enough food, but system inefficiencies don’t allow us to get the food where it is needed. This is worth repeating - we have the food; we need better logistics. Great session on food waste at Sustainable Agriculture Summit yesterday. I was especially intrigued by The Farmlink Project and Ben Collier. They are connecting farmers and food banks to redirect surplus (or what Ben called abundant) foods to ensure the food doesn’t become waste. They’ve redirected 100s of millions of pounds to date by solving logistics challenges. This is clearly an amazing effort, but a point I found even more interesting is that there is significant food that never makes it out of the fields and Farmlink is looking to fund farmers to harvest that food for distribution to those who need it. I’m not sure how I was unaware of this effort before yesterday, they even have a movie, but this work can be truly impactful for people and planet, and more people should know about it (assuming I’m not the only one who wasn’t aware!).
