In Wanning, surfing has become a lifestyle. Tourists, local residents and international travellers flock to work here, with the popular water sport a top priority.
Frac is a musician from the Philippines, and has been living by the beach for six months. The two things he says he must do every day, drinking from a fresh coconut, and surfing.

Jay started his career at a bar, working in Shanghai, Chengdu and other big Chinese cities before working his way up to become a manager. He says the bay in Hainan has huge potential for growth.

It's clear this once fishing village on the east coast of Hainan Province has become a true global village, with people from all over the world finding a place to work, live, and call home.
