Reimagining food today so that our planet can feed 10 billion people tomorrow.

About us

At our core: Planting Hope is a disruptive FoodTech company that is focused on fixing how we feed the world. We’ve taken a new and innovative approach to addressing some of the biggest food challenges that face the planet, developing food that’s ultra-delicious, nutritious, sustainable, AND scalable. As we look ahead to the global challenge of feeding 10 billion people by 2050, we believe the key is not to change how people eat, but to reimagine staple products in the biggest food & beverage categories worldwide to create easy swaps that are more delicious, more nutritious, ultra-sustainable, & ultra-scalable. We’ve launched swaps for common food items that ‘trade up’ on nutrition, taste, and sustainability including: · Hope and Sesame® Sesamemilk instead of dairy or almond milk ($800B+ market): 8g of complete protein (like dairy), 8x the protein in almond milk, upcycled, low-water usage · RightRice® High-Protein Veggie Rice instead of white rice ($280B+ market): 3x the protein + 6g fiber, low glycemic index, 90% less methane emissions · Mozaics™ Real Veggie Chips instead of deep-fried snacks like ‘veggie straws’ ($85B+ market): low-calorie, high protein & fiber, degradable packaging. We leverage cutting-edge ingredient, formulation, and packaging technology to unlock & deliver the core nutrition in some of the world’s most familiar and least resource-intensive crops, including sesame, peas, lentils, chickpeas, and beans. We focus on extending shelf-life to limit food waste and increase supply chain sustainability; all our products are shelf-stable and wherever possible, packaged in recyclable or easily degradable materials. Our mission is big: change the future of food globally with practical, delicious, nutritious, and sustainable foods that reimagine and replace common foods with better alternatives. This food - these better swaps - are what Gen Z is asking for, and Gen Alpha will grow up with. This is how the world will feed 10 billion people in 2050.

It is going to take a lot of innovative work to reimagine the food of today so our planet can feed 10 billion people in the future. We think about that challenge everyday at The Planting Hope Company Inc.. After flavor (cause to sell food at scale it has to be DELICIOUS), we concentrate on delivering better nutritional and environmental impact in products we enjoy everyday. Our approach to product design is to combine the best that mother nature has to offer reimagined with the help of some amazing food technicians and chefs. On EarthDay, we are thrilled to see our CEO, Julia Stamberger, and the Planting Hope Team recognized as Climate Thought Leaders by ClimateHack. What an amazing group of people doing the work daily to make all our lives better. If you are new to our product portfolio, check out our hero products: Hope and Sesame sesamemilk - Steams, foams and froths with the best of them. This is the first commercially developed sesamemilk designed to complement coffee, tea and smooth beverages. It delivers the protein often missing in other plant based milks on the the market with 4-8 grams per serving. AND delivers huge water savings with every liter used. RightRice high-protein veggie rice - Is as easy to make as a cup of ramen. Just add water and you are good to go. It delivers 11 grams of protein, 6 grams of fiber and 30% fewer carbs than traditional rice in every serving. And talk about water savings, RightRice Original uses 98% less water than conventional white rice (California grown). That is over 2000 liters of water saved per kilo produced. The small choices and swaps we make today will have the potential to make a huge difference on the planet of the future. Please join our efforts and the efforts of those included in this article. Happy Earth(every)Day! Thank you to Laura Hodgkiss and your team for the work to tell our stories.

  • This is great news as exposure and education around the beauty of plant based nutrition is essential.

🚨🎉 WIN: On April 9th, 2024, the USDA announced a plant-forward update to the foods provided through the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, better known as WIC. The updates include the expansion of plant-based yogurts and cheeses, as well as higher flexibility for states to authorize additional plant-based foods as they meet program nutrient specifications. This was the first update to the WIC food packages in 10 years and is a significant win: nearly seven million women, infants, and children – or 53 percent of all babies born in the United States – participate in WIC and rely on the program to meet their daily caloric intake. • At The Planting Hope Company Inc. we are thrilled with this new announcement from the USDA that allows more families to access plant forward foods. "The updates include the expansion of plant-based yogurts and cheeses, as well as higher flexibility for states to authorize additional plant-based foods as they meet program nutrient specifications." Annie Tarashansky writes, in a press release published by the Department of Agriculture, Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack shared, “These participant-centered changes will strengthen WIC by ensuring the foods participants receive reflect the latest nutrition science to support healthy eating and the brightest futures.” Food and Nutrition Service Administrator Cindy Long added, “For the 6.6 million moms, babies and young children who participate in WIC – and the millions more eligible to participate – these improvements to our food packages have the potential to make positive, life-long impacts on health and well-being.” This is great news as it increases the choices available to WIC families to incorporate more plant based foods into their shopping and especially helpful for those that are lactose intolerant. For companies selling plant based products it opens access to their products to an expanded customer base. Thank you Plant Based Foods Association for sharing the good news and to the USDA for implementing this change.

  • Today is World Water Day, an annual United Nations observance focusing on the importance of fresh water. Wondering how you and your organization can get involved? Making small swaps in our consumption habits is one of the easiest ways to limit our impact on the environment. Swap almond milk in favor of Hope and Sesame® Barista Blend in your daily 16 oz latte and save over 15,000 liters of water in one year! Swap a 50g serving of white rice in favor of RightRice® and save 102 liters of water in just one meal. Make that swap once a week for a year and you’re saving 3,570 liters of water in one year – an especially easy swap if CAVA is one of your favorite lunch spots. Join us in celebrating World Water Day and let us know what actions you’re taking to help conserve water. #worldwaterday

Since our launch at Costco Wholesale PNW stores, Hope and Sesame® fans have helped save over half a million liters of water by switching to Sesamemilk and we’re on a mission to make it to 1 million liters saved by next Friday. Haven’t made a commitment to water conversation, yet? No problem. We’re inviting you and your organization to make the switch to Sesamemilk. Usually stock your office fridge with almond milk? • Have you ever calculated the amount of water savings you can drive with the choice of milk you put in your morning latte? #worldwaterday

Planting Hope is all about helping people make swaps that are better for them and better for the environment when it comes to food choices. We’re a little over 4 weeks into our launch of Hope and Sesame® Barista Blend at Costco Wholesale stores in the Pacific Northwest and excited to share that there’s a whole lot of swapping going on! If the Costco shoppers that purchased Hope and Sesame® picked us up instead of their usual case of oat milk, they’ve helped save 241,452 liters of water to date. If folks passed up their usual almond milk in favor of Hope and Sesame® Barista Blend, they’ve helped save 616,338 liters of water to date. We’re thrilled to see the enthusiasm so far and would love for you to join us on our journey to save as much water we can leading up to World Water Day on March 22nd. Have you #SwitchedtoSesame yet? #worldwaterday #sustainability #plantbased
