If you recently received an email or letter from PowerSchool or a school district concerning a data breach, you may be entitled to compensation. PowerSchool recently disclosed that it was the victim of a data breach that may have compromised students, parents, and teachers sensitive personal information.
PowerSchool recently disclosed that it suffered a data breach between December 22 and December 28, 2024, that involved unauthorized access to individuals’ sensitive personal information through PowerSchool’s customer support portal, PowerSource.
In response, PowerSchool launched an investigation to determine the nature and scope of the data breach. PowerSchool’s investigation determined that an unauthorized third-party gained access to PowerSource using compromised credentials and stole sensitive personal data belonging to students, parents, and teachers at certain school districts in North America.
While PowerSchool has not officially concluded its investigation of the data breach, upon information and belief, PowerSchool has and will continue to notify impacted school districts by providing a communications package that includes outreach emails, talking points, and FAQs to help inform teachers and families about the incident.
