Update on Liposuction Breast Reduction

Dr. Lawrence N. Gray has been invited to speak at a conference of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery to be held March 21st-23rd, 2014 in Cape Town, South Africa. This conference will be attended by plastic surgeons from countries around the world.

Dr. Lawrence Gray is the originator and nationally recognized expert on Scarless Breast Reduction and has been performing this type of breast reduction using liposuction for over 18 years. This method features two very small incisions of about one quarter inch in length on each breast in contrast to the 12 inches of scarring from the traditional method. Women with overly large breasts frequently suffer from back, neck and shoulder pain, headaches, numbness in hands and arms, shoulders indentations, poor posture from the downward pull of the weight and painful rashes underneath the breasts.

Dr. Gray has performed over 1300 liposuction-only breast reduction cases since 1995. The first 500 cases were liposuction-only. Since that time Dr. Gray has been performing mastopexy, also referred to as a breast lift, simultaneously with Liposuction Breast Reduction, which offers the patient a significant and more desirable nipple elevation.

Dr. Gray will discuss indications, technique, results and complications. His presentation will also include the new use of liposuction-only breast reduction with implants in place. It has been offered as an alternative to implant exchange or with implants and mastopexy for patients with pstosis (sagging). Liposuction can reduce the size without the expense of changing implants. By avoiding change of implants, the costs and risks are reduced. Dr. Gray will focus on the simplicity of the procedure. Any surgeon performing liposuction can quickly perform the technique. Mammograms can be useful to determine the amount of fat in the breast leading to predictable outcomes.
