Building 5 Homes in Haiti- Be Like Brit Foundation

As many of you know, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake ravaged Haiti back in January of 2010 and left over 1.5 million residents homeless, without aid and a bleak future. What's not common knowledge is that those conditions are still present today; the loving, humble people there have next to nothing almost 10 years later. The billions in aid they were supposed to receive just vanished and most are still living in truly unimaginable conditions.
My life changed forever in 2017 when I had an amazing opportunity to visit Haiti and the Be Like Brit orphanage. I got to spend time with wonderful people who have almost nothing and appreciate everything. I was able to form relationships with kids only a hundred miles across the Atlantic from me who live in a totally different world. I was also able to see the severe poverty and suffering of these wonderful people and learn how little it takes to help a family.
Some of my classmates and I at my school, Space of Mind worked at the Green Market and raised $3,500 to build a home for a formerly homeless family in Haiti and volunteered for a week at the Be Like Brit orphanage. When I returned to my home where I have so much, I promised myself I would continue to help those who don't in Haiti.
Last year, it was deemed a security risk for our school to take students for a second visit. I still kept my commitment and was able to fund building a second house in Haiti. This year things are even more difficult for the wonderful Haitian people so I want to do something bigger to help. It's my goal to build five homes and give families a roof over there head.
For the first fifteen years of my life, I thought the holiday season was all about getting gifts. I've learned in the last two years that it's really all about giving. Please help me give the gift of a small home to a needy, loving family who only seeks safety in rough times and shelter from the elements.
Please give what you can to help me raise $17,500 to provide houses to five families who desperately need a home. The money raised goes directly to Be Like Brit's Paypal account and 100% of it will be used to build five new homes and help five needy families.

About Be Like Brit Foundation
The Be Like Brit Foundation was founded by Len and Cherylann Gengel after their daughter Britney tragically lose her life in the earthquake in Haiti. Brit's personal mission was to build an orphanage for disadvantaged children in Haiti and her parents have dedicated their lives to Brit's cause. After two years of logistical struggles, Brit's dream was accomplished in January 2013 with a 19,000 square foot facility in the fishing community of Grand Goave. Her parents have since adopted many of the orphans living there and continue to build low-cost housing for the Haiti's residents.
