What is this about?

If you recently received a letter or an email from Yazoo Valley Electric Power Association ("YVEPA") informing you that your sensitive personal information was compromised in a data breach, you may be entitled to compensation. YVEPA recently disclosed that it was the victim of a data breach that exposed thousands of individuals’ sensitive personal information.

What Happened?

On August 26, 2024, YVEPA became aware of a security incident on its IT network. Upon detection of the incident, YVEPA launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party cyber security experts to determine the nature and scope of the incident. Upon investigation, YVEPA determined that an unauthorized third party gained access to the company’s network and may have acquired certain files from YVEPA's systems. YVEPA conducted a comprehensive review of the impacted data to determine what information was compromised and how many individuals were impacted. On October 24, 2024, YVEPA completed its review and determined that a limited amount of personal information may have been accessed by an unauthorized party. YVEPA completed the whole review process on December 20, 2024. On January 30, 2025, YVEPA filed a notice with the Maine Attorney General’s Office and started sending out notice letters to the affected individuals.

What Information Was Impacted?

Upon information and belief, the following types of sensitive personal information may have been compromised as a result of the data breach:

• Full Name,
• Date of birth, and
• Social security number
