There is one major problem with influencer marketing and it's not about finding influencers, it's not the strategy or even how they perform. The problem is about how the evolution of social media over the years started as forums and chat platforms to connect people in the emerging digital world and suddenly became the go-to channel for every brand. The available social media technology with its limitations and Ad business model dictated what was right to do for brand marketers. Clicks, views, impressions, tag product, and how to measure that with capital equivalence, EMV, etc. That's the best we got, and it works, or it seems it works and sometimes it doesn't. I observed this time-lapse throughout my career and I always believed that technological limits shouldn't define what is right, so we pushed the technology beyond by bridging between social channels and brand websites. For Brands using Contester, there is no difference between influencer social media and their website. Their influencers are empowered with extended life cycles beyond social media, enhanced narratives to engage users and personalized offerings. So my vision was never to sell our technology but to make it an inevitable service that every brand should use soon or late to do better influencer marketing. A bit late update from attending PI LIVE Show! It was great to see many familiar faces and friends. I missed the Performance Marketing Awards ceremony but it came out that Awin Global and Nike were awarded the Best Use of Social Commerce for the campaign that our livestream technology and strategy were part of.
