An open, permissionless marketplace connecting content providers with network capacity from ISPs, CDNs, and broadcasters.
The Open Capacity Marketplace (OCM) is a more open and decentralized way for content providers to find and procure available content delivery capacity.
The Open Capacity Marketplace (OCM) is an industry-first permissionless platform that revolutionizes how content delivery capacity is bought and sold across the internet. Built on blockchain technology and industry-standard specifications, OCM connects Content Providers with diverse Capacity Suppliers—including ISPs, CDNs, broadcasters, and distributed infrastructure operators—through automated smart contracts and transparent settlements. By eliminating traditional bilateral business overhead and enabling access to previously untapped capacity sources, OCM delivers wholesale pricing, expanded geographic coverage, and enhanced delivery options like multicast to meet the exploding demands of streaming video and digital content distribution. Our vision is to create a truly open marketplace, governed by the industry rather than a single company, where network capacity is efficiently matched with demand to benefit all stakeholders in the content delivery ecosystem.
The Marketplace uses Blockchain technology (smart contracts with distributed, immutable ledgers) along with cryptographic proofs-of-bandwidth and delivery to enable secure settlements between parties.
The ledger is permissionless on the Solana network and has no owner. In the initial iteration of the OCM, Blockcast will facilitate settlement of transactions with joint governance from stakeholders and the community.
Content owners gain access to diverse capacity sources beyond traditional CDNs—including ISPs, broadcasters, and distributed networks—while capacity suppliers can monetize spare infrastructure without establishing complex bilateral relationships
Content owners receive wholesale pricing traditionally reserved for large companies, while capacity suppliers maximize revenue from existing infrastructure through higher utilization rates and new monetization opportunities during non-peak periods.
A standardized interface eliminates the complexity of managing multiple CDN relationships, while expanding coverage into previously underserved regions through local ISPs and alternative delivery technologies like multicast and datacasting.
