Horror fans never run out of scary movies to watch on Netflix—the streaming service makes sure of it. Last week it was St. Agatha, a creepy nun slasher, and this week it’s Eerie, a 2019 Filipino supernatural horror flick that takes place in a haunted Catholic school. (Man, Catholics really can’t catch a break when it comes to murder and ghosts!) The film originally premiered at Singapore International Film Festival on December 2018, before it was released in the Phillippines in March 2019. Though it never got a U.S. theatrical release, it’s now available to stream on Netflix.

Directed by Mikhail Red, Eerie stars Bea Alonzo as a guidance counselor at an all-girls private Catholic school trying to help her students cope with their classmate’s recent suicide. But as she digs into the mystery surrounding Erika’s death, she starts to suspect it wasn’t a suicide, after all.

But what is the rest of the Eerie movie plot? Who stars in the film? Is there a trailer? We’ve got answers for you below.

What is the Eerie plot?

Where’d we leave off above? Oh, right: A caring guidance counselor named Pat Consolacion is at an all-girls private Catholic school and is trying to help her students process their classmate’s recent suicide. As it turns out, Pat is a medium—meaning she can communicate with the spirits of tormented girls who died at the school. (Apparently, this is not the first time such a tragedy has occurred—the students suspect the abusive nun Mother Alice is behind the deaths.) Pat speaks to Erika Sayco, who hanged herself in the school bathroom, and Clara Nemenzo, who was strangled in the courtyard. Eventually, she speaks to Eri, a ghost who’s watched over the school for many years. Together, Pat and Eri uncover the mystery of a monster lurking in the school halls.

Who is in the Eerie cast?

Bea Alonzo stars as the film’s protagonist, Pat. Alonzo is a well-known Filipino actor, singer, and media personality. Her recent credits include The Love Affair—a role which earned her Best Actress at the Luna Awards in 2016—and A Second Chance, for which she took home the award for Movie Actress of the Year at the 32nd PMPC Star Awards for Movies. Starring alongside Alonzo in Eerie is Charo Santos-Concio, a media executive as well as an actor. Santos-Concio was the Chief Content Officer of ABS-CBN Corporation (the largest entertainment and media company in the Philippines) from 2012 to 2016, and most recently appeared in the 2016 film Ang Babaeng Humayo.
