𝑷𝒔𝒚𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒅𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒄 𝑻𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑴𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉: 𝑬𝒖𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆 𝑱𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑬𝒙𝒑𝒍𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 Exciting news for mental health research! The European Medicines Agency (EMA) is exploring the potential of psychedelic compounds to treat conditions like depression, addiction, and PTSD. 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞'𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐥: Filling the Gap: Traditional treatments haven't kept pace with rising mental health issues. Psychedelics could offer a new approach. Learning from the US: The EMA is inspired by the US's "breakthrough therapy" designation for LSD in treating anxiety. Research is Key: High-quality studies are crucial to understand the safety and effectiveness of these therapies. Setting the Stage: The EMA acknowledges "set and setting" (patient mindset and treatment environment) as important factors for success. Challenges Remain: Finding effective placebos for psychedelic trials is a hurdle to overcome. Overall, this is a positive step towards exploring new avenues for mental health treatment.  I'll keep you posted on further developments! #mentalhealth #psychedelics #research #breakthroughtherapies Link to original article: https://lnkd.in/drGSVBSg Dr. X

We should ask ourselves: would we accept a fake banknote and attempt to use it as legal tender? Would we be happy if we paid for a can of pickled artichokes and opened it up to find potatoes in it? Yet ordinary people buy fake honey every day, while the time-honoured art of beekeeping is under threat. The term “fake honey”, is typically used to describe small amounts of real honey that have been bulked up with cheap sugars and syrups. Often these syrups are derived from corn and rice. Nestled between the Swartberg and Outeniqua mountains, Liviana™ range of honeys have origins as beautiful and pure as its flavour, derived from blossoms and native flora. Nothing but pure honey guaranteed. Make the healthier choices for your family today: https://lnkd.in/duK7M5pa #liviana #honey #fakehoney #healthyfood #healthyeating #realhoney #foodstagram

𝑪𝒐𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒆 & 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕: 𝑨 𝑩𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒌𝒅𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑼𝑲 𝑩𝒊𝒐𝒃𝒂𝒏𝒌 𝑺𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒚 ☕️🫀 Researchers analyzed data from over 449,000 UK Biobank participants to see how different coffee types affect heart health and mortality. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑮𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝑵𝒆𝒘𝒔: All types of coffee (decaf, ground, and instant) were linked to a lower risk of heart disease and death compared to non-coffee drinkers. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒕 𝑺𝒑𝒐𝒕: The study suggests a "sweet spot" for coffee consumption – around 2-3 cups per day for all types offered the most significant benefits. 𝑨 𝑹𝒉𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒎 & 𝑩𝒍𝒖𝒆𝒔 𝑵𝒐𝒕𝒆: Interestingly, ground and instant coffee (but not decaf) were associated with a lower risk of arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats) at moderate intake (1-5 cups/day). This warrants further investigation. Overall, this is promising! 𝑴𝒐𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒇𝒇𝒆𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒖𝒎𝒑𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 could be part of a heart-healthy lifestyle. 𝑯𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓, 𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓: 𝑪𝒐𝒓𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 ≠ 𝑪𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏: This study can not establish direct causation. 𝑰𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒅𝒖𝒂𝒍 𝑵𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒔 𝑴𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓: Some are more sensitive to caffeine and may experience anxiety or sleep issues. Listen to your body! 𝑸𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝑪𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒔: Sugary coffee drinks and excessive cream can negate potential benefits. Opt for black coffee or minimal additions. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑻𝒂𝒌𝒆𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒚: Enjoy your coffee in moderation, but maintain a balanced diet and regular exercise for a truly healthy heart. Ⓑⓡⓞⓒⓒⓞⓛⓘ Power! Could it Revolutionize Stroke Treatment? Calling all broccoli lovers! This humble veggie might hold the key to a major breakthrough in stroke treatment. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙗𝙡𝙚𝙢: Stroke is a leading cause of death worldwide, often caused by blood clots in the brain. Current clot-busting drugs like tissue plasminogen activator(tPA) come with a risk of bleeding in the brain, a potentially deadly side effect. 𝙀𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝘽𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙞'𝙨 𝙎𝙪𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧: Researchers in Australia discovered that sulforaphane, a natural compound found in broccoli and other cruciferous veggies, might be a game-changer. Studies show sulforaphane can: Improve the effectiveness of tPA, potentially increasing its success rate to 60%. Reduce blood clot formation. Potentially slow down the onset of stroke. Unlike other blood thinners, sulforaphane appears to not increase the risk of bleeding. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝘽𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙞 𝙋𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧: Human trials are next! Researchers aim to develop a new preventative and anti-clotting treatment using sulforaphane within 5 years. If successful, this could revolutionize stroke treatment, offering a safer and more effective option for patients. 𝙇𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨: These are still early-stage findings. More research is needed to confirm the benefits in humans. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙏𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙮: Eating fruits and veggies is good for overall health, and broccoli might offer additional benefits for stroke prevention. But don't ditch your doctor's advice just yet! Talk to them about stroke prevention strategies specific to you.
