Mastercard day 2024 As I reflect on Mastercard day, I want to highlight this panel discussion as leaders in the industry share their insights on digital transformation and navigating the path to a digital future. What was consistent in each response was the significance of collaboration in driving digital transformation. In today's rapidly evolving landscape, where innovation touches every aspect of our lives – from work to leisure, spending to travel – it's crucial to recognize the collective effort behind these advancements. To stay competitive, industry players must harness the power of collaboration, leveraging each other's strengths. 💯 💯💯👏🏽 Hats off to Dalton Fowles and the entire Mastercard team for a day brimming with insights, learning, and transformation. Our collective aim is to deliver an unparalleled experience for our customers, merchants, and every stakeholder in our ecosystem.

At the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth's Change Maker Day, I had the privilege to join a conversation on #financialinclusion in the US, with Jennifer Tescher and Suzanna Fritzberg. We celebrated the ongoing development of the US first Financial Inclusion Strategy, as financial inclusion can help communities build resilience, seize economic opportunities, and grow agency. However, we acknowledged the importance in designing the strategy of recognizing that existing financial inclusion gaps are largely the result of the fact that so far material and social privileges have mattered substantially in accessing finance. CGAP's evidence shows indeed that, in the US just like elsewhere in the world, greater education and digital literacy, a track record of using financial services, but also, higher socioeconomic status, are almost always correlated highly with adoption and use of financial services. Hence, it will be important to break biases, and ensure financial services are delivered in ways that respond to individual clients' unique circumstances, needs, and goals, so that their impact goes beyond adoption and that they help customers make better decisions about investing in the opportunities they care about and the risks they want to manage. Doing so will also be good for US banks as the same efforts yield better and longer-term customers.  

Reflecting on an inspiring day at NatWest's Work Experience event hosted by Jennifer and organised by Cait Houlbrook at the SMF! 🚀 Together, we embarked on a dynamic journey through a 5-step process: Mindset, Discovery, Ideation, Iterate, and Activate. Each phase brought new insights and challenges, fostering teamwork and creativity. 🧠 Starting with the right Mindset, we primed ourselves for innovation. In the Discovery phase, we uncovered the scale of the issue: a staggering 30 million tonnes of litter gracing UK streets annually. (That's enough to fill four Wembley stadiums!) 💡Ideation had us brainstorming like never before, seeking a sustainable solution to tackle this pressing problem. Through iteration, we refined our ideas, each iteration growing stronger than the last. 🌐 And then, in the Activate phase, the moment of truth arrived. Collaboratively, we crafted a compelling business proposal that could make a dent in the litter challenge. The grand finale? Presenting our pitch - a culmination of dedication and teamwork. 🌍 Thank you to Jennifer and Cait for crafting an engaging experience that nurtures skills, fosters innovation, and brings minds together to create change. Courage and collaboration. It takes both to address today's toughest challenges. Last July, the U.S.'s Economic Opportunity Coalition came together to bridge the public/private divide and promote investment in underserved communities across the country. Today, they announced a major milestone in this effort: $1 billion in committed deposits to expand the lending power of Community Development Financial Institutions and Minority Depository Institutions. McKinsey is proud to be a founding member of the coalition, joining leading organizations such as Google, Goldman Sachs, Mastercard, McDonald's, PayPal, Starbucks, and Vista Equity Partners. Giving more people a chance to meaningfully participate in the mainstream economy is key to reaching the U.S.'s potential to enable growth that is also inclusive. By leveraging #AI, organisations can tailor their products and services to customer preferences, improve operational efficiency, and develop new revenue streams through data-driven products or insights-as-a-service offerings. The synergy between AI and data monetisation not only boosts profitability but also drives continuous innovation, making it a crucial focus for companies looking to stay competitive and agile in the digital age. On my panel, I explained how e& is becoming an AI-centric company, and offered the event participants to collaborate with e& in monetising their data and developing AI solutions for their businesses.
