Fernando Landa

Partner / San Diego

Fernando specializes in real estate matters with broad expertise working on large transactions across the country and across the asset spectrum.  Having previously served as the General Counsel of a large real estate company, he understands the client perspective and brings a well-grounded, business-minded approach to the practice of law.

Fernando represents public real estate investment trusts, private equity funds, institutional investors, and entrepreneurial developers in the acquisition, development, financing, leasing, management, and disposition of commercial real estate assets.  He handles a large volume of leasing matters and landlord/tenant disputes.  Fernando also possesses a unique expertise in workout deals with extensive experience negotiating and documenting thousands of workout transactions and navigating the resolution of distressed real estate loans through the judicial process.

Prior to founding Harvest, Fernando practiced law at Allen Matkins Leck Gamble Mallory & Natsis LLP and Crosbie Gliner Schiffman Southard & Swanson LLP (CGS3) and was the General Counsel of Trigild.  He is recognized as one of California’s leading real estate attorneys, having received dozens of accolades for his work and community leadership.

  • Represented one of the nation's leading public REITs in a wide variety of transactional matters and oversaw the litigation team in unlawful detainer matters.
  • Advised an institutional-grade investment company in the acquisition, disposition, and financing of Class A apartment buildings and shopping centers throughout California and Oregon.
  • Counseled a private equity fund manager in the leasing and administration of office and retail portfolio spread across the country.
  • Assisted an institutional-grade office investor in the leasing of an office portfolio with properties across the country.
  • Represented the purchaser of $130 million of mixed-use assets in Los Angeles, California.
  • Advised a leading creative office developer in the leasing and administration of its West Coast portfolio.
  • Counseled the owner of very large, privately owned office portfolio in all leasing and operational matters.
  • Assisted institutional-grade investment group in the acquisition and leasing of its retail and office portfolio.
  • Represented the developer of a $200 million medical office building in Connecticut.
  • Assisted a developer of several four- and five-star resorts in Southern California.
  • Counseled a developer of a multibillion, ultra-luxury private ski resort.
  • Advised the developer of a Las Vegas strip resort and casino in all aspects of development, construction, leasing, and operational matters.
  • Represented a CMBS special servicer with real estate loan workouts across the country.
