2014, European Journal of Integrative MedicineCitation Excerpt :In addition, fear and avoidance tendencies, such as phobias, were said to be alleviated by floating, and destructive habits were said to be opened up for change, stated here, for example: “floating diminishes depression, anxiety and fear and facilitates freedom from phobias and addictions.” Reduction in depression and anxiety is a robust finding across many different studies [11,34,35], making floating a promising complementary treatment for mood disorders, and possibly also a way to overcome destructive habits, such as addiction, which has been indicated in one study [60]. Also, floating was said to alleviate sleep-problems and insomnia.
