This week, the Jewel-Osco Women's Inspiration and Inclusion ARG hosted a wonderful breakfast honoring moms ahead of Mother's Day. The event had a strong turnout at the Jewel-Osco headquarters in Itasca, IL and celebrated moms, stepmoms, grandmothers, pet moms, mother figures and all whom identify as a mother! Each attendee was given a small clay pot with seeds inside and a label that read, "Let's Grow Together." Thank you to Maria Brushenko, WIIN Chair & District Manager for hosting a creative and fun Mother's Day event!

🎉 Congratulations on your 50-year anniversary, Larry Ksepka! 🎉 Larry Ksepka, Melrose Park DC Transportation Superintendent, celebrates 50-years of work that went by like a flash for a company he loves. Read more about Larry's Jewel Journey below: How did you get started at Jewel-Osco ❓ Growing up, Jewel was always a part of our family. We used to go shopping there all the time. My mother worked for Jewel, and I had a brother-in-law who worked for Jewel. The Oak Park, Illinois, store was right down the street, and they had butchers on staff and meat hanging from the ceiling, and I thought, “Yeah, I wouldn't mind doing that.” So right out of high school in 1974, I filled out an application to be an apprentice butcher, and thankfully, I was accepted. What motivated you to want to work with us for 50 years ❓ My mother worked for Jewel for 20 years while I was growing up. It was a fantastic company, and she never had a negative thing to say about it. It was a good, solid Chicago company that took care of its people. It was like a family.   I love what I do. I live 56 miles from Melrose Park. I live at the Wisconsin border in Woodstock. And I love coming down here. I really do! We have so many great people here. There are so many opportunities and challenges. Fifty years went by like a flash. I would never have thought it would fly by so fast. The job has never been boring, and I never felt that I had to find something else to do. What was the most memorable event in your tenure at Jewel-Osco ❓   Meeting my wife, Laurel. I was in the warehouse as a supervisor, and she was an assistant poultry buyer in building F. We met at a company function and were married a year and a half later. I remember when I celebrated my 25th anniversary and Jewel brought us to the Hyatt for a ceremony, and I told everyone when I was on stage that my favorite memory at Jewel was meeting my wife. Our new associate value proposition is “Bring Your Flavor.” What do you think this means for our associates as well as aspiring ACI talent ❓ Today’s aspiring talent is very tech-savvy, while we started with mimeograph machines and carbon paper. I think we need to call out the opportunity we still create in this company. They don’t have to pigeonhole themselves into a job they'll never get out of. I see that the opportunity to grow is a constant for our company in this ever-changing world. #jeweljourney #workanniversary #retailcareers
