Lunch for a Cause - Davy B

Back in November, I experienced my first seizure. Then I had another in December, and far too many in between to count. The doctors haven’t been about to get to the root of what is causing them. I’ve been in and out of doctor visits, hospital stays, numerous needles for blood work, a skull cap to monitor my brain activity, a heart monitor to keep track of my heart rate. And still, the doctors are at a loss. With all of this, I’ve missed work. A place I enjoy being, helping customers, and feeling like I’m making a difference. Some of the guys from Detail; Fernando, Israel and Ysmael knew that even with insurance, I had out of pocket expenses, and wanted to help. On their own accord, they planned a fundraising lunch for me, Hamburgers and Hot Dogs for a Good Cause! Adventure Subaru stepped in and covered the cost of the food, which was around $500. Staff and friends that wanted to participate could by purchasing a burger for $4, a hot dog for $2, or a plate with chips and a drink for $10. Adventure Subaru also offered employees an option for a payroll deduction to help. I’m astonished to report that I received $3500 in support from my coworkers. I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support. All of the kind donations have helped me and my family greatly. I was able to pay off my hospital bills and the contributions have helped with more upcoming neurology appointments in Little Rock. Special thank you to Fernando, Israel and Ysmael and the rest of the Detail crew for organizing this for me. Thank you to all others who rallied behind them. I am so grateful to work with a staff that cares and supports in times of need. Their kind words and contributions have kept me going. I’m hoping to get answers from the neurologist soon. I know I have an army of support behind me. Thankful for you all and I’ll never forget the kindness you all showed me in my time of need.

Feeding the Streets - Evan R

More than 13% of the population in Washington County AR experience a lack of regular access to affordable food. Affecting over 32,500 people in the community, Adventure Subaru knew they had to be able to help. In May 2016 The Little Free Pantry movement was launched in Fayetteville by Jessica McClard. This movement aimed to place several pantry locations throughout the community where people in need could access free food. This program is fully crowdsourced and it can be difficult to keep these pantries stocked. After learning about these Little Free Pantries in their community, Adventure Subaru knew this is how they could help. In September of 2023, Adventure Subaru started their campaign to stock the Little Free Pantries regularly. Canned foods and other non-perishable items are collected and deposited by their staff, and many of the items are gone within the same week. In addition, they collect and donate hygiene products, which are essential items that are harder to access due to not being covered by government assistance programs. To date, Adventure Subaru has spent over $2,000 on this cause, and expects to triple that in 2024. Already actively stocking over 50% of the free pantries in Fayetteville, they are excited to see this program grow in their community.

Expanding Opportunities - Sean K

At the Ozark Adaptive Sports Association (OZASA), we believe in the transformative power of sports and recreation. Our mission is to open a world of possibilities for individuals with physical disabilities in Northwest Arkansas. OZASA is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for our participants by offering a range of adaptive sports and recreational activities. We strive to foster independence and create a supportive community where everyone can discover the joy of movement and the spirit of resilience. Thank you for your support of Ozark Adaptive Sports Association during 2023. With the help of Adventure Subaru, we accomplished our goals of purchasing needed equipment and holding 118 events over the course of the year. We acquired 2 recumbent trikes, 1 handcycle, 4 kid-sized sports chairs, and 2 adaptive mountain bikes. Plus, it was fun when we got to bring them to the dealership for everyone to try out. Our big event this year was our 2023 OZASA Off-Road Adventure, we had 47 adaptive mountain bikers come from all across the US and Canada. Demand for our programs is booming for people with disabilities who want to get out of their homes, meet other people, and build community. We are fielding requests from cities' recreation departments, athletic clubs, and other organizations to expand our services. To meet demand, we are embarking upon a capacity-building program in 2024 - 2025. We are working on expanding the Ozark Adaptive Sports Association by hiring staff and purchasing a van for the program. This will help us expand our programming to better serve Northwest Arkansas.

Providing Warmth to our Community - Kristina A

The colder months are especially difficult for our un-housed neighbors living in Fayetteville. We experience rough winter months with average temperatures below freezing. Northwest Arkansas is full of wealth and prosperity, yet our un-housed population continues to grow as cost of housing, food, and basic needs increase, all without wage increases. Adventure Subaru has a long standing partnership with 7Hills Homeless Center in the Fayetteville Community. 7Hills Homeless Center provides meals and essential items to people in need. Each year, Adventure Subaru hosts a donation drive, and puts out a call to their customers and our local community to pitch in. The needs for the donation drive varies, based on what is most needed at the day center. This year, it was cold weather gear, such as blankets, coats, hoodies, socks, sleeping bags, and whatever else one may need while navigating life unhoused. The donation drive coincided with the Subaru Share the Love Event, which ran from November 16-January 2. Throughout this time, Adventure Subaru had a drop-off bin for people to drop off their new and gently used items. We’re happy to report that with this donation drive, they donated upwards of 50 blankets, 30 sweaters and hoodies, alongside a host of socks, gloves, and other warm comfort items. It’s important to recognize that while this donation drive has, and will continue to help our neighbors, the need will always remain. Please find it in your heart to give back to organizations like 7Hills and help someone break the cycle of poverty and homelessness.

Creating New Beginnings, One Paw at a Time - Kayla M

Thanks to our partners at Adventure Subaru- October is one of our absolute favorite months of the year! 🚗🐶 This October, 38 furry friends found their forever homes, 17 adorable dogs rocked Halloween costumes, $9,300 was raised for our cause, lots of yummy treats and supplies were acquired through Subaru's donation drive, and countless smiles were created along the way. 🏠🧡 One of our favorite adoptions that happened in October was our sweet girl, Winnie (pictures attached). Winnie was found suffering from an extreme case of mange. She was starving and had the beginnings of a skin infection that would certainly have killed her if left untreated. She was in a rural area in Northwest Arkansas that had no shelter or rescue options and her finders were desperately looking for help. Luckily, she made her way to Big Paws where she received medical attention, love, behavioral training, and support until she found her forever home. And thanks to our partnership with Adventure Subaru we didn't have to worry about Winnie's medical bills! Now, Winnie has lots of hair and is living her best life in her loving forever home! None of this would have been possible without our incredible friends and partners at Adventure Subaru. Thank you for supporting our mission to give dogs a chance at a new beginning. 💚🐾

Because of You, Someone Will Eat Today - Mallorie M

Thank you for your generosity in supporting our School Pantry program, providing a readily accessible source of food assistance to low-income students and their families. In fact, Feeding America reports that 1 out of every 5 children in Northwest Arkansas does not have enough to eat. I am deeply grateful for your desire to help alleviate child hunger in NWA. Your support of $9,600 gets food into the hands of families experiencing food insecurities. By supporting the Owl Creek food pantry, it will help over sixty students each month. Because of you, someone will eat today. Grateful, Northwest Arkansas Food Bank

Thank you for your generous support to the Ozark Natural Science Center. Your contribution helps us meet our mission, enrich our programs, and provide hands-on science education to thousands of students each year. In the words of our students, the impact of your continuing support means… “We all had the best time staying at ONSC with you! We made so many amazing memories we will never forget and it couldn’t have happened without you! Thank you for giving us a trip to remember.” “I learned that trees can grow in a different direction just to get sunlight and the same thing for moss! I’ve never been hiking before, so I got to experience new things. ONSC was sooooo much fun, and I hope I get to go again.” All of us as Ozark Natural Science Center greatly appreciate your support.
