MassLive Media President Tim Kennedy has announced the promotion of Gareth Charter to Vice President of Sales for the company. Charter has been serving as regional sales director and is credited with being a key player in driving the company's continued statewide revenue growth.

"Gareth is an excellent leader and has produced results since joining MassLive Media," Kennedy said of the promotion. "Our rapid growth over the past 12 months, especially growth from Central Massachusetts, is largely the result of his vision."

Kennedy said advertising revenue in Central Massachusetts has doubled in the past year for MassLive Media.

Charter, a 28-year media veteran, was hired in January 2016 to further MassLive's expansion efforts in Central Massachusetts and Eastern Massachusetts.

"I'm very fortunate to work with such a terrific team at MassLive and Advance," Charter said. "Our incredible growth is a direct result of the investment, hard work, and very high standards demonstrated by our ownership and employees. We have a very bright future ahead at MassLive and MassLive Media and I'm proud to be a small part of it."

Charter, 50, began his career on the content side as a reporter in Peabody before spending several years as a advertising/marketing director and publisher for Community Newspaper Company. In 2004, Charter was named publisher of the Holden Landmark Corporation, which ran five weekly newspapers in Central Massachusetts and Baystate Parent Magazine.

In 2008, he oversaw Holden Landmark's acquisition of Worcester Magazine.

He's a graduate of Fairfield University.

MassLive has continued to experience record audience growth in 2017. According to independent media analytics company comScore, MassLive enjoyed 26 percent year-over-year audience growth in August, and was among the fastest growing digital news companies in Massachusetts. MassLive set an all-time site growth record in August with more than 35 million page views and 4.7 million unique visitors for the month*. The site also saw more than 2.7 million video views. That growth has catapulted MassLive to the position of being one of the most-read news sites in New England.
