⛵ * Discover Our Crew: Technical Manager and Partner with Tue * Project success can be measured through various metrics, above all having the right professional figures! In our APOLO project we are lucky to have one of them! 👋 This week it's a pleasure to introduce you our Chief Officer Prof. Fausto Gallucci, as Technical Manager and Partner with Eindhoven University of Technology with his group TU/e SUSTAINABLE PROCESS ENGINEERING 🔬 The #research of Prof Gallucci at the #Inorganic #Membranes and #Membrane #Reactors (SIR) research group is related to the development of membranes and novel multiphase reactors, in particular membrane reactors and dynamically operated reactors. His research focuses on the interaction of heterogeneous #catalysis, #transport phenomena, and #fluid #mechanics in these novel multifunctional reactors. Particularly interesting application areas are methanol production in zeolite and carbon membranes, methane activation with oxygen selective membranes, the Fischer-Tropsch reaction in carbon based membrane reactors, and hydrogen production by reforming/dehydrogenation reactions with hydrogen selective membranes. Prof. Gallucci has been working since 2019 on ammonia cracking with membrane reactors and has several patents on the MR technology, which is the base of the APOLO project main technology. The membrane reactor research in Fausto’s group is carried out through integration of (in house developed) advanced experimental techniques and experimental Proof of Concept of novel reactor concepts. Fausto has been #Coordinator, Technical Manager or PI in 35 European projects since he started his TUE career. 👨🎓 Prof. Fausto Gallucci studied #Chemical #Engineering at the University of Calabria (UNICAL, Arcavacata di Rende, Italy) where he obtained his MSc (2001) and PhD (2006) degrees. He performed his PhD research on #hydrogen #production from #methanol in membrane reactors. 🛫 In 2007, after having held a position as a postdoctoral researcher at the Research Institute on Membrane Technology (ITM-CNR, at the UNICAL campus), Gallucci moved to the research group #Fundamentals of #Chemical #Reaction Engineering at the University of Twente (Enschede, The Netherlands). In 2009 he was appointed Assistant Professor (tenure track) there. The following year, Gallucci moved to the Chemical Process Intensification laboratory at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e, The Netherlands) where he was appointed Associate Professor in 2015, leading the Multiphase Reactors research effort. In 2018 he was appointed full Professor at the chair 'Inorganic Membranes and Membrane Reactors'. Since 2021 he is also the Chairman of the Sustainable Process Engineering group at #TUE. We wish you a great work in our #ApoloProject #ammonia #cracking #maritime #decarbonization #horizoneurope

⛵ * Discover Our Crew: the Coordinator* As we started this new year with APOLO project, it is a pleasure to introduce you our captain Angela Mary Thomas, as our Coordinator of this project. 👋 Dr. Angela Mary Thomas is a remarkable scientist with a diverse background. Originally from Kottayam, India, she pursued her studies across different parts of India. Angela holds a Master’s degree in #Chemistry from the University of Hyderabad. Later, she completed her PhD in Chemistry at the prestigious Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, where her research focused on #computational #studies of #nanoporous materials like #zeolites. 🎓 After her PhD, Angela emigrated to Europe and joined the University of Twente, #Netherlands , where she discovered her passion for #membranes. Her work involved computational studies on membrane #separations . ✍ Since last year, Angela has been a part of TECNALIA Membrane Technology and Process Intensification Group as a #project #manager. She has contributed to various EU projects, including #ARENHA and AMBHER project, under the guidance of Dr. Viviente José Luis . #APOLOproject marks Angela’s first #solo project as a project #coordinator on behalf of Tecnalia. Her goal is to follow in her mentor’s footsteps and lead the project to #success. 🚢 She firmly believes that the APOLO project can revolutionize sustainability in the #maritime #sector . By developing advanced power conversion #technologies involving #fuel #cells and advanced #ammonia #engines coupled with a catalytic membrane reactor, APOLO aims for a 70% #reduction in #emissions. In addition to project coordination, #Tecnalia will play a crucial role in developing novel membranes for incorporation into a #catalytic membrane #reactor. These membranes will enable cost-effective #hydrogen #production compared to conventional ammonia conversion technologies. Angela’s dedication and expertise are driving APOLO toward a greener future for maritime operations. Indian Institute of Science (IISc)
