Andrea Jaeger

Andrea Jaeger was a junior phenom who won 13 US junior titles, including the most important titles at the 1979 Orange Bowl and 1979 Boca Rotan. She turned professional in 1980 and reached the semi-finals of the US Open that year. Jaeger eventually won 10 singles titles on the WTA Tour, and reached the finals of the 1983 Wimbledon and 1982 French Open Grand Slam tournaments. In 1981 Jaeger won the French Open mixed doubles title, alongside Jimmy Arias.

Jaeger seemingly retired early, after the 1987 season, and has since devoted her life to giving, charities, philanthropy and religious work. In 1990 she and her close friend and business partner Heidi Bookout created the Silver Lining Foundation. The foundation brings young cancer patients to Aspen, Colorado for support and outdoor activities. Jaeger later formed Little Star Foundation, another charitable effort for children in Colorado.

In 2006, Andrea Jaeger took religious orders and became Sister Andrea, an Anglican Dominican nun, although she left the order in 2009. In 2007 Jaeger, along with several other famous athletes, including Andre Agassi, Lance Armstrong, Tony Hawk, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, and Muhammad Ali, formed Athletes for Hope, a charity whose goal was to get other retired athletes involved in philanthropy.
