nevada medical card savings

Getting a Medical Marijuana Card in Nevada is a process that involves speaking with a doctor and filling out some state mandated paperwork. To become a Nevada medical marijuana patient, you can first talk with one of our Nevada medical marijuana doctors to see if you qualify and then we will help you through the application process.

PrestoDoctor Appointment Process

At PrestoDoctor we make getting your Nevada medical marijuana card easy. Our appointments are conducted 100% online, from the comfort of your own home.

The first step will be to make an account with PrestoDoctor. You’ll fill out a brief medical questionnaire as well as uploading your ID and a photo of yourself (for identity verification).

You will be given the option to pick your doctor, date, and time. We often have same day appointments, or you can schedule an appointment for a later date.

At the time of your appointment, you will get a call from the doctor. Your doctor will assess if medical marijuana is a good treatment option for you. Based on your medical questionnaire that was filled out before your appointment, your doctor may ask you some questions about your medical condition and history.

Finally, you can feel confident knowing you only pay if you are approved. If the doctor denies you, we have a 100% money back guarantee policy.

If you’ve been approved, we will then help you with the rest of the steps to get registered with the state of Nevada.

Register with the State of Nevada

Once the doctor approves you for medical cannabis, you will then need to generate an application packet. You can do that via the following steps:

  • Register for an account here: https://mmportal.nv.gov/ (click “Register as a Cardholder”)
  • Find a scanner and scan the back-side of your Nevada driver’s license / ID card. Scan as a JPG, PNG or TIF file at 300 DPI or greater.
  • For the “Consultant Email”, you can list [email protected]

**Your login credentials are your driver’s license number and selected password. You must “Register as Cardholder” prior to logging in.

After you are registered, you will then need to login, generate, and download the application packet. You will receive a PDF file that you will then email to [email protected] once you have it ready.

Your doctor will then sign and email back a copy of the Attending Healthcare Provider Statement. Once you have the completed PDF document, you can scan and upload all completed application documents to your computer and upload them to the Nevada State Portal.

Nevada Medical Marijuana Card Benefits

Although cannabis consumption is legal in Nevada and is now accessible for recreational and medical use, there are still many benefits for having your Nevada MMJ card.

Cultivation

Patients can cultivate medical marijuana if there is no dispensary in the county where they live OR if there is no dispensary within 25 miles of their home address.

Patients unable to travel due to medical conditions or lack of transportation may also cultivate their own plants.

Lastly, if the dispensaries available do not supply a specific strain of cannabis needed for a medical condition, the patient may cultivate this strain themselves.

Marijuana plants must be cultivated at your private residence.

Possession

Medical marijuana patients have a higher possession limit than recreational cannabis users. Medical marijuana patients may possess up to 2.5 ounces of cannabis every 14 days. However, recreational, adult users may only purchase up to 1 ounce of flower and 1/8 an ounce of concentrate every 14 days.

Keep in mind that whether you are a recreational or medical user, you may not operate a motor vehicle under the influence of cannabis. Cannabis is still federally illegal and is considered a controlled substance. Therefore it is advised to consult with legal counsel to determine how federal, local, and state Nevada marijuana laws may affect you.

Tax Benefits

When buying cannabis in Nevada, you will be presented with an excise tax and a sales tax. Medical marijuana patients save 10% in excise tax. Recreational, non medical users must pay this extra tax. As a result, medical marijuana patients can save 10% on their purchases in dispensaries.
