As the United States emerges as the latest epicenter of the fast-spreading COVID-19 pandemic, a spotlight has been put on the challenges of equitable care in the U.S. healthcare system. While coronaviruses do not discriminate by wealth or privilege, access to adequate healthcare in the best of times is uneven, and the COVID-19 crisis is pushing capacities in many locations to their limits.
