Aldebaran Resources (TSXV: ALDE; OTCQX: ADBRF) has acquired a 60% interest in the Altar copper-gold project in mining-friendly San Juan province, Argentina, from Sibanye-Stillwater, and is earning in to acquire a further 20% for a total 80% interest. Aldebaran is led by a management team with a track record of success, and is advancing Altar with strategic partners including South32 and Route One Investment Company. In 2024, Aldebaran signed a collaborative agreement with Nuton LLC, a Rio Tinto venture, to evaluate the use of Nuton’s proprietary primary sulphide leaching technologies at Altar. Recent drilling has focused on growing the mineralized footprint of the project, and exploration success since the previous Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) is expected to significantly increase the size of the resource, which will be updated in H2 2024.

Altar Copper Gold Project
San Juan Province, Argentina
The Altar copper-gold project hosts a cluster of porphyry deposits in San Juan, Argentina, which Aldebaran is expanding through exploration to deliver to the rising copper market. The 2021 pit-constrained resource for Altar East and Altar Central showed 11.4B lb Cu and 3.4Moz Au in the Measured and Indicated categories, plus 1.7B lb Cu and 0.4Moz Au Inferred. This is already one of the largest copper projects held by a junior company, and drilling results since the 2021 resource update suggest the project is poised to grow significantly, as the Company transitions to an updated Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) in 2024 and Preliminary Economic Estimate (PEA) in 2025.
