Revolutionary technologies often begin with a specific functionality that opens up new value for users. Over time, these technologies expand, as developers capitalize on additional value subsets. For example, the internet began (mostly) with email, then quickly expanded to the world wide web, telecommunication, social media and much more.

For the second year in a row, the Chainlink team attended the ETHDenver Hackathon. The team worked around the clock supporting enthusiastic developers who wanted to interface their smart contracts with real-world data and systems using Chainlink powered decentralized oracle networks.

As part of the Web3 Summit in Berlin, Chainlink hosted its own series of events focused around the ongoing development of the Chainlink ecosystem. The event featured nineteen speeches, three panel discussions, a developer workshop and multiple featured demos.

We believe that enabling off-chain connectivity via secure oracles is the major catalyst that will spark the next evolution in smart contract development. Whether it’s receiving off-chain market data to trigger your DeFi smart contract or connecting to an external payment system to settle it, the range of possible applications that Chainlink opens is limitless.

Fresh off an inspiring Web3 Conference where we hosted our own OracleNode event, the Chainlink team carried the excitement over to the August 2019 ETHBerlin Zwei Hackathon. In addition to awarding €4000 in prizes to the top projects using Chainlink, Sergey delivered a speech entitled “Securely Connecting Smart Contracts to Off-chain Data and Events” and the team hosted a developer workshop.
