Meet Dr. Verma
Dr. Verma is a board-certified endodontist, who has been in private practice for more than 10 years. His expertise is in treating patients with diseases of the dental pulp and periapical tissues, which includes the diagnosis and treatment of tooth pain. He is well-known for his commitment to providing innovative, high-quality patient care, and for routinely utilizing surgical operating microscopes and high-resolution CBCT imaging. He has been consistently recognized by a vote of his peers as a Top Endodontist in Washingtonian magazine, Northern Virginia magazine, and Virginia Living magazine. Dr. Verma sees patients at our Virginia office in Centreville, as well as at our office in Washington D.C.- Capitol Endodontics.
Education and Training
Dr. Prashant Verma earned his undergraduate dental degree from Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences in New Delhi, India. He holds a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry in Loma Linda, California. After graduation, he practiced as a general dentist in San Francisco, California before pursuing specialty training in Endodontics. Dr. Verma completed his residency in Endodontics and Masters in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in Baltimore, Maryland. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics.
Awards and Recognition
During his residency, he received the Sherril Ann Siegel Memorial Endodontic Research Fellowship and the Tony Michael Ponti Memorial Award from the University of Maryland. He also completed the year-long Diversity in Leadership Institute program with the American Dental Association. Dr. Verma’s research interests include patient-centered comparative effectiveness of strategies for diagnosis and treatment of endodontic disease, tissue engineering applications in regenerative endodontics, treatment of complex root canal anatomy, and strategies to minimize post-operative pain. He has co-authored several research articles in leading peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Endodontics and the Journal of Dental Research. His research has been presented at several professional meetings, including annual sessions of the American Dental Association, the International Association for Dental Research, and the American Association of Endodontists.
Professional Affiliations
Dr. Verma is a part-time Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, Division of Endodontics, a member of the medical staff at the University of Maryland Medical Center, and a part-time Lecturer in Endodontics at the Howard University College of Dentistry. He is a former Assistant Professor of Restorative Dentistry at the University of the Pacific Dental School in San Francisco. Dr. Verma is an active member of the American Association of Endodontists (AAE), the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Endodontics, the American Dental Association, and the Northern Virginia Dental Society. He has served on the Practice Affairs Committee of the AAE and earned a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Prashant Verma and Dr. Ali Nosrat were co-residents at the University of Maryland. In addition to their clinical partnership, they maintain an active research collaboration and publish articles together in high-impact journals.
Outside of work, Dr. Verma enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children, watching cricket and soccer, and traveling to experience diverse cultures and cuisines.
