Content Moderation Software
ToxMod is gaming’s only proactive, voice-native moderation solution. Built on advanced machine learning technology and designed with player safety and privacy in mind, ToxMod triages voice chat to flag bad behavior, analyzes the nuances of each conversation to determine toxicity, and enables moderators to quickly respond to each incident by supplying relevant and accurate context. In contrast to reactive reports, which rely on players to take the effort to report bad behavior, ToxMod is the only voice moderation solution in games today that enables studios to respond proactively to toxic behavior and prevent harm from escalating. Developers and game studios of all sizes use ToxMod to reduce churn, delight players, and build healthier communities.

From Voice-Changing to Voice Safety: Lessons from Modulate's Journey We spoke with Mike Pappas, CEO of Modulate, about their evolution from MIT tech project to leading voice safety platform. Here are the key go-to-market lessons from their journey: → Turn "confusion" into direction. When gaming studios kept asking about voice moderation during their voice-changing demos, Modulate initially dismissed it as confusion. They later realized these "misunderstandings" were actually revealing their true market opportunity. → Solve the visibility problem first. Gaming platforms had zero visibility into voice chat abuse. Instead of jumping straight to solutions, Modulate first built technology to help platforms understand what was happening on their platforms. → Lead through education, not features. While giants like Facebook can parse thousands of regulation pages, most gaming companies can't. Modulate positioned themselves as regulatory guides first, technology vendors second. → Make partnership the core strategy. They rejected transactional relationships, sometimes turning down misaligned opportunities to build deeper strategic partnerships. This led to relationships with major studios like Call of Duty. → Position beyond the initial use case. By branding as "prosocial voice intelligence" rather than just voice moderation, they created room to expand into healthcare and dating while maintaining focus on their core technology. These insights from Modulate show how listening to market signals and focusing on customer education can transform a technical innovation into category leadership.
