Catalyzing the Hydrogen Economy

A clean energy future is here

H2U Technologies is a developer of low-capital-cost, iridium-free proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzers that are particularly suited for pairing with renewable energy sources. We leverage our ultra-high speed Catalyst Discovery Engine™ (CDE™) to develop low cost non-PGM catalysts for use in our electrolyzer systems. The world-class technology featured in our products stems from ten years of research and development at Caltech, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy.

Iridium-free

electrolyzers

The high cost and scarcity of precious metals like iridium are a barrier to scale for electrolyzers.

Our low-cost PEM electrolyzers leverage novel, non-iridium catalysts and innovative electrolyzer design improvements to enable cost-effective green hydrogen generation.

Our 200 kW Yellowstone electrolyzer units come

in plug-and-play, standard shipping containers.

These scalable modules are well-suited to help decarbonize businesses over a range of applications.

The world is rapidly adopting green hydrogen as the clean energy carrier for decarbonizing global industries across the board – transportation, energy, metals, chemicals, construction, and others comprise the vast majority of carbon emitting industries.  Today, using hydrogen for decarbonization depends on rare, expensive precious metals used as catalysts for producing clean hydrogen and converting it to clean power.

How do we get there?
CDE
 for PEM electrolyzers

Our CDE is a data-driven, rapid-screening process that allows scientists to make, characterize, and quantify the catalytic activity of thousands of material compositions per week. In the coming years, highly constrained sources of PGM materials will lead to product shortages and electrolyzer price increases.

Using its patented CDE technology, H2U Technologies has discovered novel, non-iridium catalyst materials that have been validated both in-house and through third-party testing by the #1 global supplier of catalytic coatings.

Hydrogen compression, storage and transportation costs can double production costs.

H2U  minimizes these costs by designing electrolyzers specifically tailored for on-site production of hydrogen. Applications for our pilot products include natural gas blending, hydrogen fueling stations, steel production, and green ammonia production.
