It's female history month and that is why I want to raise even more awareness to feminism as I usually do anyway. We are living in a society where it is easy to think that we already are equal, but numbers don't lie. In Germany, women earn about 18% less money than man, that means in a year we work 66 days without pay. In an EU comparison of the Gender Pay Gap, Germany is fourth from last. At the bottom are Latvia (22.3%), Estonia (21.1%) and Austria (18.9%). To push for more equality please spread awareness and help be the change we need in our society. Happy International Women’s Day 💜 I have always been surrounded by a strong female lead. My mum, who has raised 3 children on her own, whilst working full time. Raised well (I think so anyway😂!). Other women that have inspired me: My English and Business teachers at college. These are women you look at and think “wow, you’re incredible”. The relentless nature, the desire to grab life with both hands, no matter who is holding you down, whilst also battling their own waves of life. They are now not only women who have taught me great life lessons aswell as academia, but my friends. It is key to surround yourself with strong female figures, to provide inspiration and motivation. “Surround yourself only with people who are going to take you higher” 💜 Coming into Gallagher as the first job in my insurance career, it has been delightful to see the recent focus on women, via programmes, opportunities and schemes available. Truly recognising the celebration of women and the strive to push women’s leadership in the industry. 💪🏽 As an inspiring female leader, I am keen to make the most of these progression opportunities, and inspire other women to take the jump and follow. As I develop in my career it will be inspiring to see more female leaders stepping up and providing inspiration to younger females like me, who are early in their insurance careers. Both in work and in day to day life, it is vitally important for women to support women. We spend too much time looking at the negatives of ourselves and others.
