He commonly made mistakes while doing example problems, which made it difficult to follow the correct steps. I learned more outside of class on my own than I did in lecture. As long as you do the practice problems from the syllabus, you'll be fine.
- CHEM001Dec 5th, 2016Quality2.0Difficulty3.0CHEM001Dec 5th, 2016For Credit: YesAttendance: MandatoryWould Take Again: NoGrade: BTextbook: YesHis teaching style is the sort that is extraordinarily beneficial to those who take a particular interest in the class and have some prior knowledge in the material, but whose explanations aren't necessarily adroit at helping those who are struggling or less initiated. I highly recommend him, but only for classes you are comfortable with.

- CHEMPHYSOCEANMar 20th, 2014Quality5.0Difficulty3.0CHEMPHYSOCEANMar 20th, 2014Textbook: NoHastings is very enthusiastic and interested in the content of this course. He explains everything well, learns everybody's name, gives fair tests, and offers all the help you could need. He can be a little disorganized outside of class, but this is only a problem if he's your mentor. One of the best profs around. Hands down. I'm marine bio, too!
- CHEM001Sep 3rd, 2010Quality5.0Difficulty4.0CHEM001Sep 3rd, 2010Textbook: YesVERY good teacher, possibly one of my favorites at Eckerd. He really wants his students to do well, and will go out of his way to help and answer questions. His method of teaching is very helpful and clear. SO funny, too. He makes class fun. He sings a hilarious song to his students at the end of the semester. He's awesome.

- CHEMPHYSOCSep 1st, 2005Quality5.0Difficulty3.0CHEMPHYSOCSep 1st, 2005FANTASTIC! One of the most fun classes I've taken, especially the field trip, and I'm a bio major! Labs are fun. He kept his cool when we melted all his teflon vials in our final experiment (oops). He's also a swing dancer!
