The process of applying to colleges and finding colleges can be challenging, which is why India Prather, Esq. founded The Art of Scholarships - to lighten the load off parents’ and students’ shoulders.
India is a North Carolina native who attended Wake Forest University on a merit scholarship. Very familiar with the process of finding and applying to numerous scholarships, when India attended college, she brought in an additional $50,000.00 in outside scholarships.
Upon graduating cum laude from Wake Forest, India joined Teach for America’s Charlotte corps, teaching 9th grade Common Core Math I. During the summers of her teaching years, India worked for Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Talented Youth in Hong Kong (China). India has years of experience in teaching and tutoring learners at various levels, such as those who are high-flyers, English-language learners, and those with learning disabilities.
Upon completing her tenure with Teach for America, India left the classroom to pursue a career in law at the University of Miami School of Law (Miami, Florida). India attended law school on a partial merit scholarship. Similar to her college years, India found success in winning scholarships while in law school: she won (8) local, state and national scholarships. India graduated cum laude (top third of her class) from law school and went on to pursue a career in law at an AmLaw 100 firm. India is a licensed Florida attorney.

India’s success in applying to institutions of higher learning and winning numerous scholarships is what led to the founding of The Art of Scholarships. For India, there really is an art to writing captivating college and scholarship essays to make applications stand out amongst the crowd.
