Crisis Text Line

Crisis Text Line provides text-based mental health support and crisis intervention by empowering a community of trained volunteers to promote mental well-being for people in their moments of need. Text HOME to 741741 for free, confidential crisis counseling 24/7.

DoD Safe Helpline

DoD Safe Helpline is the secure, confidential, and anonymous crisis support service designed for members of the Department of Defense community affected by sexual assault. Available worldwide, Safe Helpline provides a number of ways for DoD community members to get support and resources 24/7. Call 877-995-5247, chat via the Online Helpline, or join a group chat service via the Safe HelpRoom.

IMAlive, National Hopeline Network

IMAlive is a live, online network that uses instant messaging to respond to people in crisis and in intense emotional pain. Call 800-784-2433 (SUICIDE) or chat online to get help.

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)

NAMI is a mental health organization that provides advocacy, education, support, and public awareness to help build better lives for people affected by mental illness. The NAMI HelpLine can be reached Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. – 10 p.m., ET.

National Domestic Violence Hotline

The National Domestic Violence Hotline provides essential tools and support 24/7 to help survivors of domestic violence so they can live their lives free of abuse. Call 800-799-7233 (SAFE), TTY 800-787-3224. If you can’t speak safely, go online for crisis chat support or text “START” to 88788.

Not OK App

You don’t have to struggle alone in a mental health crisis. The new notOK App is a free digital resource to alert your designated trusted contacts that you need immediate support via text, phone call, or GPS location when you’re struggling to reach out.

Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN)

RAINN is an anti-sexual violence organization that operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline, as well as operates the DoD Safe Helpline for the Department of Defense. RAINN also has programs to help prevent sexual violence, help survivors, and ensure perpetrators are brought to justice. Call 800-656-4673 (HOPE) or go online for crisis chat support.

StrongHearts Native Helpline
This is a confidential and anonymous domestic, dating, and sexual violence helpline for American Indians and Alaska Natives, offering culturally-appropriate support and advocacy 24/7. Call or text 844-7NATIVE (844-762-8483) or chat online. 

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s National Helpline

This is a free, confidential treatment referral and information service (in English and Spanish) for individuals and families facing mental and/or substance use disorders, available 24/7. Call 1-800-662-HELP (4357).

Suicide Hotline in Spanish: Ayuda En Español

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24/7. Call 800-273- TALK (8255), Press 2.

Suicide.org - Suicide Hotlines by State

Suicide.org is a nonprofit organization that aims to prevent suicides, support suicide survivors, and educate the public about suicide. At this site, find suicide awareness and support at suicide hotlines listed by state.

Suicide Prevention: Indian Health Services (IHS)

Information from the Federal Health Program for American Indians and Alaska Natives through cooperation among tribal, federal, and other partners to maximize effectiveness of services and to protect individuals against suicide risk.

The Partnership for Drug-free Kids Helpline

Call 855-378-4373 if you are having difficulty accessing support for a loved one who is struggling with a substance use disorder. Support is available in English and Spanish, from 9 a.m. to midnight ET weekdays and noon to 5 p.m. ET on weekends.

The Trevor Project

National 24-hour, toll-free confidential suicide hotline provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) young people. If you are thinking of suicide and in need of immediate support, call 866-488-7386, text START to 678-678, or chat online.

Trans Lifeline

Trans Lifeline’s Hotline is a peer-support service run by trans people, for trans and questioning callers. Call 877-565-8860.

The Veterans Crisis Line

The Veteran’s Crisis Line is a free, confidential resource available to any veteran. If you are a veteran in crisis or concerned about one, there are caring, qualified Veterans Affairs responders standing by to help 24/7. Call 800-273-8255 (press 1), text 838255, or chat online.
