The premiere of Greta Gerwig's Barbie Movie and Christophor Nolan's Oppenheimer at the same time has sparked a cultural phenomenon known as #Barbenheimer. Both movies met their ticket sale projections during opening weekend, resulting in the biggest box office opening since Avengers: Endgame. So what emotions are moviegoers experiencing after watching or discussing the two movies? Using our #AI tool, the Explorer, we compared public reactions to both movies over opening weekend. Results showed Oppenheimer evoked higher levels of surprise and fear at 91 and 70 compared to Barbie at 64 and 30 respectively. Meanwhile, Barbie showed higher levels of joy and trust at 74 and 72, compared to Oppenheimer at 52 and 20.
