In honor of #MothersDay, we talked paid parental leave with CNBC and what polling, business leaders, and frankly common sense tells us is that giving people the ability to show up for their family or themselves matters. “We invest in our success as a company by investing in our people,” said a spokesperson for S&P Global

With Mother's Day upon us, top executives should take time to look at what mothers, and in fact, all parents want them to know. A new poll released this week from BrightHorizons and The Harris Poll shows that 78% of American workers now feel more comfortable discussing family needs and obligations with their employers. Good progress, but it holds an underlying message to leadership. Stephen Kramer CEO of Bright Horizons told Fortune, "“This is really a wake up call to all employers that they need to move both quickly and substantively to offer these kinds of benefits. The pandemic afforded working parents some flexibility, that in many ways, has started to dissipate or has fully dissipated in this return to a more traditional [work] environment. Employers leaned in during the pandemic, and are now leaning back out, but are not placing supports to compensate for that change.” Employees are speaking up and leadership must listen. The world of work has changed and we must change along with it or we risk losing talented workers.
