Global Citizen is a movement using its collective voice to end extreme poverty by 2030.

About us

We are an advocacy organization dedicated to ending extreme poverty by 2030. We do this by encouraging people to learn and take action on our platform; those actions apply pressure on world leaders to make commitments around the issues associated with extreme poverty: gender equality, food security, education, the environment, global health, citizenship, and sanitation. We don't ask people for money, but to take action for the world’s poor. These actions can be as simple as a tweet, signing a petition, making a phone call, or sending an email. By taking action, these Global Citizens are rewarded with access and tickets to our music festivals and other events around the world. So far, more than 13 million actions have been taken by Global Citizens, leading to $35 billion commitments being made by world leaders, which are set to affect 1.3 billion lives by 2030.

Co Founder at MEGA GAS ENTERPRISE

In 2023 I was selected as the winner of the prestigious Global Citizen Waislitz award, a momentous occasion for the Mega Gas Family. The support we received from the Global Citizen Award was pivotal in scaling our work, it helped us build a new community kitchen in Soweto. Malleyz films visited the Waislitz Mega Gas Community Kitchen in Soweto and captured the video below! Watch and see the impact. The 2024 Global Citizen Waislitz award is now open, I encourage all the Innovators to apply and get a chance to receive support to amplify their impact! Rachael Mittal Global Citizen

Chef Tom Colicchio joined us a few weeks back at #GlobalCitizenNOW to highlight Norman Borlaug's monumental contributions to agriculture. Called the Green Revolution, Borlaug's innovations in crop development—including climate-resilient crops—revolutionized farming practices, significantly boosting food production in Asia and Latin America and saving an estimated 1 billion lives. In March, our partner Procter & Gamble joined us for #GlobalCitizenNOW: Melbourne in a BIG way – especially through their presence on the ground at CENTREPIECE at Melbourne Park! Throughout the two day event, P&G had three onsite activations designed to engage attendees, and each stood out in a unique way: – Relief Packing Station: Guests helped assemble care packages that included products from OLAY, Gillette, Always Whisper, Voost, Venus, and Oral B. Over 450 kits were packaged and donated to Foodbank Victoria. – Headshot Booth: Complete with a mirror for last-minute touch-ups, this station provided attendees with the opportunity to have a professional headshot taken. The touch-up station was stocked with P&G products, and a selfie mirror encouraged attendees to capture some content of their own before turning to the professional! Over 1500 photos were taken throughout the two day summit, including professional headshots captured with all 32 of our #YouthLeadersAward winners. – P&G Product Integration: Guests were treated to additional P&G products in the restrooms onsite, allowing guests to sample throughout the two day event Want to see more? Take a look at what these amazing activations looked like in the room ⬇️

This year's #GlobalCitizenNOW was all about discussing transformative ideas for urgent action and that's exactly what Former Prime Minister of Norway Erna Solberg, Former Prime Minister of Canada Stephen Harper, and Elizabeth Yee from The Rockefeller Foundation did during their conversation. Together, they discussed urgent issues like sustainable development, climate financing, and global health and what we need to see happen in order to build a better tomorrow. Art has the power to ignite change 🎨 But don't just take our word for it; listen to the insights of actor, producer, and gamer, Jordan Fisher, who joined us on stage at #GlobalCitizenNOW last week to spotlight the impactful voting posters crafted by our extraordinary Young Artists Collective. We've comprised this dedicated group of college students from across the nation to champion causes close to their hearts, including urging first-time voters to engage in the 2024 elections.
