Yesterday, our Group representatives for the #WHP Project - representing Sofinter Macchi Boiler, AC BOILERS S.p.A. formerly ANSALDO CALDAIE, and Europower - participated in the annual workshop organized by ATS Insubria at the Confindustria Varese headquarters in Gallarate. This year, the initiative focused on active work breaks and the importance of raising awareness among all colleagues about adopting small daily actions that can ensure a concrete improvement in everyday life, both within the company and in their personal lives. This prestigious biannual event gathered senior executives from the most important global #suppliers of CTCI, the leading EPC company in Taiwan. During the meeting, CTCI provided a retrospective on their operational achievements and shared insights into future business opportunities. The day concluded with the Awards Ceremony & Gala Dinner, where Sofinter Div. This significant milestone follows the recent shipment of three Titan M model #steamgenerators in Plug&Play configuration for a major project in Qatar. Our collaboration with CTCI continues actively, with ongoing bids for significant projects in Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Open House in the Workshop for the Basic Macchi Engineering Team! Last week, the Basic & Thermal Engineering team from the Gallarate Headquarters had the opportunity to delve into some stages of the production process of #steamgenerators currently being manufactured at the Fagnano Olona workshop. From the reception, processing, and bending of tubes to the assembly of walls, through welding technologies and the operation of drilling and machining machines for collectors and cylindrical bodies, each phase was precisely illustrated by the workshop managers. Special attention was given to thermal treatment tools, such as the external furnace, with detailed insights into the procedures and techniques applied. The team was guided through the realization of Titan M, MVF, and MRD, destined for the Marghera site, offering the chance to experience firsthand the transition from design to construction. It was a valuable opportunity to create the right synergy between the two sides of the same coin and understand how studies, calculations, and analyses translate into cutting-edge products, contributing to technological innovations and supporting the #energytransition. La scorsa settimana il team di Ingegneria Basic & Thermal dell'Headquarter di Gallarate ha avuto l'opportunità di approfondire alcuni passaggi del processo produttivo dei generatori di vapore in questo momento in fabbricazione presso l'officina di Fagnano Olona. Dalla ricezione, lavorazione e piegatura dei tubi fino all'assemblaggio delle pareti, passando attraverso le tecnologie di saldatura e il funzionamento delle macchine di foratura e lavorazione di collettori e corpi cilindrici, ogni fase è stata illustrata con precisione dai responsabili dell’officina. Particolare attenzione è stata dedicata agli strumenti di trattamento termico, come il forno esterno, con dettagli approfonditi sulle procedure e le tecniche applicate. Un percorso che ha guidato il team attraverso la realizzazione di Titan M, MVF e MRD, destinati al sito di Marghera, offrendo la possibilità di toccare con mano il passaggio dalla progettazione alla costruzione. Un'occasione preziosa per creare il giusto connubio tra le due facce della stessa medaglia e comprendere come studi, calcoli e analisi si traducano in prodotti all'avanguardia, contribuendo alle innovazioni tecnologiche e sostenendo la transizione energetica. Collaborating and sharing experience for a #sustainable grow! On February 12th and 13th, at our headquarter in Gallarate (VA - Italy), 35 employees of the Sofinter Group attended a technical training on Control Valves and Safety Valves for #steamgenerators conducted by our partner Baker Hughes Masoneilan Control Valves, @Consolidated. We spent two exciting days with Luigi Criscuolo, Mirko Balboni and Luigi Venturino that shared their knowledge and expertise, on types of industrial valves, design, and typical applications for boilers and Power Plants, with the Sofinter Team Macchi Boiler, AC BOILERS S.p.A. formerly ANSALDO CALDAIE getting back feedback for continuous improvement and optimization. Identifying and obtaining the right solutions to improve plant efficiency are key factors in reducing the environmental impact and carbon emissions of the energy sector. We thank the Sofinter People&Culture and Procurement team for dedicating ample space to the professional growth of the entire Group’s staff! * Collaborare e condividere esperienze per una crescita sostenibile! #QatarConnect2025 – QC25: Sofinter Group event in Doha On January 28, Sofinter Service Department successfully held its first Customer Day in Qatar, marking a significant milestone in this key market. Following months of in-house preparation under the guidance of the Service and Marketing organization, and with the support of the entire Sofinter Group and local company New International Technology w.l.l. (NITCO), the event, “Qatar Connect 2025”, took place at the MULTAQA Conference Center (Qatar Foundation) in Doha. Around 30 end customers, EPC contractors and business partners attended the event, led by Sofinter CEO Paolo Pietrogrande and opened by His Excellency Paolo Toschi, Ambassador of Italy to the State of Qatar. Participants showed great interest in the technological innovations of Macchi Boiler and AC BOILERS S.p.A. formerly ANSALDO CALDAIE, including Ultra Low NOx boilers, Plug & Play solutions and a range of Boiler Service products and offers. Particularly appreciated were the presentations on the SWS water treatment technology and Itea's flameless oxy-combustion for waste incineration. On November 13th, some representatives of the Company Board decided to organize a meeting with all the colleagues working at the Macchi Boiler workshop in Fagnano Olona. The primary goal was to raise safety awareness among all workers and further enhance the Company’s #safety culture. It is worth noting that Sofinter has shown an improvement in the severity and frequency of accident rates for years, well below the national industry average. The occasion was also used to provide clarifications on the company’s plans and the Group’s future prospects. * Lo scorso 13 novembre alcuni rappresentanti del board aziendale hanno deciso di organizzare un momento di confronto con tutti i Colleghi che operano nell’officina Macchi di Fagnano Olona, con l’obiettivo in primis di sensibilizzare tutti i lavoratori e incrementare ulteriormente la cultura della sicurezza aziendale. È da sottolineare che in Sofinter da anni si denota un miglioramento degli indici infortunistici di gravità e di frequenza, molto al di sotto della media nazionale di settore. Si è colta l’occasione anche per fornire chiarimenti sui piani aziendali e sulle prospettive future del Gruppo.

Between November 18th and 20th, AC Boilers, in collaboration with Ansaldo Energia, has carried out the performance test of the new Heat Recovery Steam Generator of EPP Tavazzano #powerplant. The new #combinedcycle, based on Ansaldo GT36 gas turbine, is able to generate over 800 MW with an efficiency that is in line with best available technology, that also allows very rapid load variations, thus allowing greater integration of renewable sources into the Italian electricity grid. During the tests HRSG performance has been certified to be better than guaranteed both in terms of polluting emissions and #steamgeneration, thus contributing to the excellent performance of the entire combined cycle. * Tra il 18 e il 20 novembre AC Boilers, in collaborazione con Ansaldo Energia, ha svolto il collaudo prestazionale della nuova caldaia a recupero della centrale EPP di Tavazzano. Il nuovo ciclo combinato, basato sulla turbina a gas Ansaldo GT36, è in grado di generare oltre 800 MW con rendimento al top della tecnologia disponibile che permette anche variazioni di carico molto rapide, consentendo così una maggiore integrazione di fonti rinnovabili nella rete elettrica italiana. Durante i test sono state certificate prestazioni di caldaia migliori rispetto a quanto garantito sia in termini di emissioni inquinanti che di generazione di vapore, contribuendo così all’ottima prestazione dell’intero ciclo combinato.

Macchi and the energy transition: #Ammonia combustion We are proud to announce an important technological achievement of Macchi in its pathway to a sustainable future. Our burner MARS III has been successfully tested with ammonia in a 45 MWth industrial boiler. The burner has demonstrated satisfactory operation using a mixture of ammonia and methane in various extreme combustion scenarios. The MARS III burner, already suitable for 100% Hydrogen firing, represents cutting-edge technology for industrial combustion thanks to its wide flexibility in handling very different types of fuels simultaneously. We firmly believe that “flexibility” is the key topic of sustainable industrial combustion technology. Like hydrogen , Ammonia could play an important role in decarbonization and now Macchi is ready for further future developments in energy sectors involving ammonia. * Macchi e la transizione energetica: combustione dell’#ammoniaca Siamo orgogliosi di annunciare un importante traguardo tecnologico di Macchi nel suo percorso verso un futuro sostenibile. Il nostro bruciatore MARS III è stato testato con successo con ammoniaca in una caldaia industriale da 45 MWth. Il bruciatore ha dimostrato di funzionare in modo soddisfacente utilizzando una miscela di ammoniaca e metano in diversi scenari di combustione estremi. Il bruciatore MARS III, già adatto per la combustione al 100% di idrogeno, rappresenta una tecnologia all’avanguardia per la combustione industriale grazie alla sua ampia flessibilità nel gestire contemporaneamente diversi tipi di combustibili. Crediamo fermamente che la “flessibilità” sia il tema chiave della tecnologia di combustione industriale sostenibile. Come l’idrogeno, l’ammoniaca potrebbe svolgere un ruolo importante nella decarbonizzazione e ora Macchi è pronta per ulteriori sviluppi futuri nei settori energetici che coinvolgono l’ammoniaca.

This morning, we hosted representatives from ATS Insubria at our headquarter in Gallarate for an awareness meeting against smoking. We were thrilled with their presentation and the group activities shared to help understand how the smoking habit can be overcome and how even the use of unconventional cigarettes can have harmful effects on health. The initiative is part of the WHP Project – Workplace Health Program – Healthy Workplaces promoted by the Regione Lombardia, in which Sofinter, AC BOILERS S.p.A. formerly ANSALDO CALDAIE, and Europower have been participating for three years. * Questa mattina abbiamo ospitato presso la nostra sede di Gallarate i referenti di ATS Insubria per un incontro di sensibilizzazione contro il fumo. Siamo rimasti entusiasti della loro presentazione e dei lavori di gruppo condivisi per far comprendere come l’abitudine al fumo possa essere superata e come, anche l’utilizzo di sigarette non convenzionali, possa avere degli effetti nocivi sulla salute. L’iniziativa rientra nel Progetto WHP – Workplace Heath Program – Luoghi di lavoro che promuovono salute promosso da Regione Lombardia, a cui Sofinter, AC BOILERS S.p.A. formerly ANSALDO CALDAIE ed Europower partecipano già da tre anni.
