A creative, collaborative, integrated communications company (that loves alliteration, apparently).
About us
Every day since 1973. ... And anything but everyday. Together, we helped build the very first offshore wind farm in America, and launched the beloved Big East Conference. We named, designed and wrote the story of a whole new type of backpack, and created hospital wrist bands designed to keep you out of the hospital. We talked LL Cool J into carrying one of our client’s handbags, and got the attention of President Obama for a struggling elementary school in South Carolina. And yes, we do advertising, public relations, marketing, media, design and digital. But we like to think we’re especially good at thinking on our feet, finding new ways to do things, and partnering with one another – and our clients – to think up more authentic, unanticipated solutions. Do we have a proprietary, trademarked, circle-r smoke-and-mirrors name for what we do, like “The New Marketing®?” Ew, no. Gross. At our most honest, we’re a creative, collaborative, integrated communications company. That’s it. We like words like independent and idea-driven, talented and tireless, midsized-but-mighty. And since day one, we haven’t been afraid to get our hands dirty. We are truly scrappy. Sometimes because we have to be. Most times because we want to be. We are 30 or so Rhode Islanders – many native – who’ve worked all over the country but have come together to make a difference, here in this little place by the ocean that we genuinely love and call home.

A fun part about working at Duffy & Shanley? When we get out of the office, we get to witness history (and play with big, giant scissors). From celebrating "steel in the water" for America's first-ever #offshorewind farm back in 2015, to cutting the ribbon on brand-new, best-in-class ships, to "flipping the switch" on the nation's first-ever utility-scale project just last week, our public affairs team has had a front-row seat at the center of the #cleanenergy sector for nearly a decade. Working with a long list of amazing clients who are creating jobs and driving innovation at every level of the #BlueEconomy, we're proud of the role we get to play every day in building a cleaner, more sustainable #energy future. #ClientLove

What do you do if you’ve got an incredible idea that will change so many people’s lives for the better and you want to tell the world about it? You tell Duffy & Shanley first. Our PR and ad teams came together to collaborate with The Rhode Island Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner on the opening of RI Reconnect, an amazing program that knocks down the barriers stopping people from going back to school and finishing their degree. Need gas money, they’ve got it. Help with food? Yes. Don’t have a laptop? Now you do. This incredible program will help so many of our fellow Rhode Islanders realize their dreams, and we couldn’t be more proud to be a part of it. https://bit.ly/3T256xH

We’re proud to have worked alongside the RI Department of Human Services on a campaign for this groundbreaking program in our home state. A first-of-its-kind initiative in Rhode Island, The Eat Well, Be Well pilot program is intended to encourage residents who receive federal assistance for groceries to eat healthier, giving Rhode Islanders who rely on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) additional benefits for purchasing certain groceries at Stop & Shop and Walmart stores. #ClientLove
