It was two whirlwind weeks in Vegas digging into generative AI for the Media & Entertainment industry. If you joined me at Google Cloud Next, NAB, TechConnect, Devoncroft, or the Google Cloud Executive Reception, consider it a gold-star scavenger hunt for knowledge.
I was thrilled to speak at three sessions:
• [Google Cloud Next] Drive content development and audience engagement
• [TechConnect] Silver Linings – The cloud shift from the VM Era to the AI Transformation Era: What, when, why & how?
• [Devoncroft] The C-Suite: Strategies for an Evolving Market
Key takeaways:
• Generative AI is here and focused on 3 key pillars: Driving productivity within the enterprise (marketing automation, back office, developer productivity, customer service); Augmenting and accelerating creative capabilities (localization, document and media archive search, summarization and metadata); Enhancing audience experiences through personalization (search, recommendations, branded interactions)
• The pace of change is incredible: The last 6 months since Google Cloud's release of the SOTA multimodal Gemini model shows the acceleration of innovation from research to real-world applications.
• Transformation is the new normal: The shift for companies is now evolved from cloud readiness to AI readiness. This is not just a future concept – companies are deploying generative AI now.
I got to see some amazing solutions in action:
• Cineverse uses Google Cloud's Vertex AI for "Ava", a conversational advisor for consumers – tuned with standard metadata and computer vision-based enriched contextual metadata across movies and television shows – to determine the ideal titles to recommend (Lauren McCarthy Tony Huidor)
• Quickplay introduced the Curator Assistant, enabling editorial teams to use a conversational interface to set up programming rails aligned with topical or seasonal content or passion verticals that address viewers' personal interests (Naveen Narayanan Juan Martin Paul Pastor Goutham Vinjamuri)
• Globant showcased their Advanced Video Search solution that harnesses advanced machine learning and generative AI technology to expedite deeper understanding and discovery of media content across vast content archives with an API for natural language queries (Maximiliano Renna Ilan Rosenfeld Adrian Sexton Keith O'Neill)
The future of generative AI is … now.
See you at IBC... and back in Vegas next year for Google Cloud Next, NAB, and Devoncroft!
