Changing lives through recycling. Extended Producer Responsibility & Circular Economy Initiatives.
About us
Plastics For Change collects discarded plastic from the environment and converts it into recycled materials that consumers love. We are proud to be the largest source of fair trade verified recycled plastic. Our tech and small scale infrastructure connects waste collectors with global brands to replace the use of fossil fuel based plastic. This initiative is all about creating better livelihoods for the ultra poor and preventing plastic from entering the ocean. We have been helping brands like The Body Shop and L'Oréal create a social impact through recycling since 2016. We have a proven track record of helping brands increase their market share by engaging consumers in authentic cause marketing campaigns. Similar to fair trade agriculture, our platform creates transparency and accountability from the base of the supply chain to the manufacturer. This results in more efficient shared-value chains and higher quality recycled plastic. We provide expertise to help brands and manufacturers to replace the use of virgin plastic with ethically sourced recycled plastic, thereby immediately improving the social and environmental impact of their products. Is fashion ready to ditch its plastic habit? The fashion industry has a massive plastic problem, but there's a growing movement towards sustainable solutions. Ocean bound plastic waste is being turned into clothing, reducing reliance on virgin plastic and cleaning up our oceans. This isn't just good for the environment, it's what consumers want. 82% of people in the UK believe the industry needs plastic alternatives, and two-thirds are willing to pay more for eco-friendly brands. But recycled materials are just a stepping stone. For true sustainability, brands need to focus on high-quality, long-lasting clothes that can be repaired or recycled at the end of their life. Transparency is also key - consumers want to know their clothes are made ethically and responsibly. Is your fashion brand ready to go green? Let's work together to make sustainable fashion the new black. Can a global #plasticpollution treaty be truly effective if it doesn't address plastic production? The recent Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee #INC4 in Ottawa, Canada brought together 170 nation to address plastic pollution, particularly in the marine environment. While the session delivered some progress, it failed to address the elephant in the room - curbing the production of new plastic. This is concerning as new plastic production continues to rise. Bridge to Busan, a declaration on Primary Plastic Polymers, reaffirming that a global treaty truly focused on plastic pollution must address production during the #INC5. What are your thoughts on this crucial aspect of the treaty? The story of our partners at MAC Cosmetics coming to India. 🇮🇳 They packed their bags, flew halfway across the world and came to visit the magic in Mangalore. We didn't know what to expect, it was hot, loud and we were taking them to rural recycling centres. But we were blown away by everyone on this trip. They were open-minded, passionate about helping the planet and truly kind people. To change the world, you need to be a certain type of brand. The Plastics For Change brand partners are the best kind of partners. We appreciate you all. Read about the trip here: https://lnkd.in/gDSWyR6F

To address the fight against #plasticpollution, UNEP has established Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC)! The fourth session, #INC4, is taking place today, from 23rd to 29th April, in Ottawa, Canada. After INC-3 last year at Nairobi, Kenya, INC-4 is happening, and is tasked with developing a global, legally binding instrument to tackle plastic pollution, specifically focusing on its impact on the marine environment. This international treaty has the potential to significantly reduce plastic production, promote responsible waste management, and hold polluters accountable.
